I was shocked when I saw her use the same utensils for the raw chicken on the grill and to stir the salad. Don't they tell us in every other cooking show not to do so in order to avoid cross contamination. We all know bacteria can be found on raw or undercooked chicken or any other kind of meat, fish, and therefore should never use the same cutting boards, utensils etc. that have been in contact with raw meat, poultry or fish before. Come on, this is a Health Channel, demonstration of food safty should be number one priority. Nathan Lyon changes his cutting boards and even explains why, uses different utensils etc. So before Devin Alaxander hosts another cooking show she should first learn the basics. What good does it do to eat "healthy food" if it is contaminated with bacteria etc.?
Due to time constraints, editing plays a part in what is aired. Please be assured that for Devin and Discovery Health - food safety is a top priority and the proper precautions are taken.
I have noticed a few safety issues as well. Last night I watched the show on fast food and she kept touching her hair and then the food. I know that there may be some editing involved but I seriously doubt that her hands were washed in between. As a professional, we both know that no one would want to eat the food we prepared if they saw us touching our hair. At least I wouldn't.
Hi Everyone, Thanks so much to all of you who have watched the show religiously and continue to write to me. It means the world! I thought you'd want to know that you'll be able to get even more recipes from me soon!...my latest book, "The Most Decadent Diet Ever!" is coming out this April. Go to www.devinalexander.com for more info. on that. Meanwhile, thanks so much to those of you who are conscious of food safety. I'm sure that those of you who watched the episode with the Thai Peanut Noodle Salad closely noticed that one set of tongs has black tips and the other has silver. Though the way it's cut, I can see where, to some who aren't really paying attention it looks like the same pair. But, alas, I would be as horrified as some seemed to be if I thought it was the same pair. Please know that the food on the show was never eaten--it (and I!) need to be as pretty as possible for camera. So my hair being down and the fact that they don't show my washing my hands are all just part of "the magic of television". I hope you're enjoying the show (and the recipes!) as much as I enjoy making them. I'm one blessed girl thanks to your kindness! Devin
