Lily my cockatiel is almost 4. She started laying eggs at about 9 months. In Jan. I got married and bought her a new cage so with a new cage, new location, and new furry siblings she hasn't laid anymore eggs since Jan. Could there be a problem? Also about 2 years ago I got her wings clipped and she hasn't flown straight since so I haven't gotten them reclipped and her nails need to be clipped don't they?

hey, i dont know egg much about egg laying, cause my little girl is still to young for me to bring home, but about her nails needing clipped, yeah they usually do, but you can buy certain perches and swings n stuff made out of cement and sea shells and stuff that help to keep there nails and beek in good condition, and if you have them they usually dont need to keep getting them clipped i dont think, unless you notice there really sharp/long. cockatiels get really stressed easily and they dont respond well to changes, so she might just be stressed? im not that sure why shese not laying more eggs, sorry, the only thing i can think it could be is she is still not comfortable in the new location. sorry im not much help

Excessive egg laying is what you need to worry about because it can cause vitamin loss. I recommend wing, beak, and nail trims at least twice a year. You shouldn't need any more than twice a year for trimming the beak and nails. If the beak and nails are growing faster than that, then there may be an underlying problem. The wings may have to be trimmed more often, depending on how often your bird molts. Your bird is not flying straight because someone did an incomplete wing trim. I recommend (for cockatiels) that all of the primaries are cut and that the secondaries are trimmed (secondaries need to be trimmed because cockatiels can flap their wings fast enough to get lift without their primaries).
