it has been about 5 days that i got the parakeets from my friend.
male and female couple. they are cute and lovely colors. but they are avoiding me. i heard if i feed them with my hand, it will be helpful but they are just avoiding me when i let them out of cage they are flying away..
female one, i can't get closer than a feet. she just flies away. but the male one i was trying to smooth down, he walks away or flies away but however when he gets tired then i can hold him then get him on my hand. but still they dont eat the food i give them. such as a little pieces of peach.
how can i be close to them?
one other thing is that they breathe so hardly, and making noise.. like shaking with their beaks. i mean.. i guess only the male one cuz i can't really see the female one at all.
please reply me. thank you for ur time.

Hold your hand in the cage with food on it. Also, getting their wings clipped until they're used to you would be a good idea, too. It'll be easier to tame them. But they won't bond to you so quickly or as much as if you only had one since they're bonded to each other already. Good luck.

time will tell? is that what u meant? hmm but it's really hard to touch them unless one the female one is away, otherwise when male one sees female is around him he doesn't wanna get closer to me at all.i feed them a small pieces of peach and whatever on my hand and even the food too but they r just away. if i move my hand to get closer then climb away in the cage.

I find it easier to train birds when they are in seperate cages. If I were you, I would split them up and train them independently. Once they are both hand tamed, you can put them back into the same cage together. Clipping their wings will make it easier to train them, and also safer. While your training is in session you may want to leave the room with the cage and the other bird entirely so that the attention is on you and your commands.
