About a year ago I was trimming my parakeet (Jerry) nails. She jerked as soon as I clipped and lost alot of blood, easily a full teaspoon, and I immediatly put flour on it to stop the bleeding. I heard that even a drop of blood loss for a tiny bird like mine is deadly. I was certain that she was going to die, but she didnt. She went staight to sleep as soon as it happened. So how in the world is she still alive? This has been making me wonder for atleast a year now.

Well, the easy answer is she is just one lucky bird. And the second answer is that you responded exactly how you should have, and it probably saved your bird. By stopping the bleeding quickly, you avoided a very sad end to that story.
