okay, why do you want to breed birds so much?? I assure you IT IS NOT EASY AT ALL!!!! BELIEVE ME! Do not take this on, it will end in tragedy for you and your birds. First of all, even though the earliest age to breed small birds is from 6 months to 1 year, doesnt mean that they are ready to breed! a healthy age to breed birds is usually 2-3 years old!!! if you breed them in when you get them, there is a chance that the female will die with the effort of laying eggs at such a young age!!!! AND THE BABIES MIGHT NOT EVEN MAKE IT THROUGH THEIR FIRST NIGHT! THAT WOULD BE TRAGIC. Also, i do think that you have school right?...well if the babies do survive, they must be fed EVERY SINGLE HOUR OF THE DAY! YUP THATS RIGHT...how are YOU going to accomplish that with school?? every hour means day and NIGHT! I SEVERLY RECOMEND TO YOU NOT TO BREED YOUR BIRDS!!!!!
I am homeschooled.Thank you for the edvice! That would have been sad! But I still do not know what bird to get if I only got one. So could you give me some ideas? Oh yeah, I chaned my scream name. Gadget
hey, how about you get two birds, but dont breed them?...like maybe two females or two males or something like that...just make sure you get them two separate cages, so they dont fight.
Before you go out and get yourseld a bird, surf the net and read what these birds requirements are. eg. lovebirds must be with a member of the opposite sex. It is very cruel to keep one on their own. You should get a bird that has been handreared, but make sure it is weaned first. Be prepared to spend a lot of time with them and most important they are very precious, so you cannot get tired of them and then forget to feed or water them.
its not cruel to keep every bird on their own! though lovebirds do like each other's company...but budgies, and cockatiels do very well on their own...but if you want two birds, try to get females...males might be a bit competitive...
