what kind of vegetables have you been feeding it? keep trying differnt things? and don't give it to big a pieces or two small. and you can give your bird pretty much any fruit or vegies, except cabbage, potatoe's, avocados and citrus fruiits. One more thing make sure there unsprayed, thoroughly wash them and if necisarry peel them. offer it lots of variety.
hope i helped Smile

Thanks rach_1242. I have tried brocoli, carrots, sweet potatoes, apples, etc. He just does not seem interested at all. Should I be concerned and should I keep trying?

OK how do you tempt a 2 year old to eat veggies, you eat it and makesounds that make it sound good and interesting.

Same idea. Have a small portion for him on the side and ahve your own bits. Then munch away. Make soudns and offer little bits that aren't too big not aren't to small either. Praise him when he tastes it, even if he doesn't eat. Keep offering themad keep trying different vegetables. Try cucumbers, grapes, oranges, green peppers, okra, spinach(Fresh kind, offer the leaves, some birds like the stalk, some like the leaves). None of my birds like the same thing, so it's jsut trial andearror. Also Taking carrot slices(Long and very thin) and rolling a sunflower seed in ti is helpful. Theyeat thecarrot to get to teh seed. It worked for me and everything is worth a try.

Whatever you do don't giveup. Your tiel needs the extra fresh nutrientsthat a diet of seed and pellets jsut can't give him alone. Also trycooking his veggiesin a mash with pasta or rice(Bird size portion, about a spoonful)

Best of luck!

Birds are naturally curious. First, I had to introduce the idea of "the new bowl." Basically, I put a big green bowl next to the usual bowl for food and let it sit there for a day or two. When you hear banging in the next room, chances are your bird is exploring it and has accepted it as a part of its cage. Next, I slowly introduced the idea of vegetables. In the wild, cockatiels eat a lot of seeds, so I first tried dehydrated fruits and veggies. I replace them twice daily (even if the bird hasn't touched them). Keep, doing this and I guarantee by one week, the bird will be exploring and eatting it. Now, you can move on to fresh fruits and veggies. These have to be replaced more often than the dehydrated variety, but it is worth it in the end. By at least 3-5 days, the bird should be exploring and trying them.
