I recently took in a rescued Tangerine Ringneck Dove and when I got him home, I noticed that he made some pretty weird noises. My sister said that it was probably just his way of talking and I wasn't too worried about it until my other Ringneck started doing the same noise. I've had Ringneck Doves for over 13 years but never heard this noise before so I was wondering if anything might be wrong with them or if it's just their way of talking.

The noise sounds kind of like a whimper in a way. They don't do it all the time, just once in a while and they generally make the noise 2-5 times in a row with little pauses inbetween.

I recorded the rescue making the noise but of course, our parrot decided to talk too. I got just 1 "whimper" alone...the parrot kept talking right as he did it. Frown It's right at the beggining so you have to listen closely.

Your doves should be fine. You should only worry if you hear the birds breathing heavily, hear a ratteling or raspy noise with inhalation, or they are excessively sneezing.
