Hi. I am allergic to soy flour and I was wondering if anyone knew of another component I could use in recipes instead of it. I used to eat low carb all the time and I love Blaine's show, but I cannot make any of the recipes I like because most of them use soy. Please help!

You bet! There's a terrific bake mix that doesn't contain soy, from "Bob's Red Mill."

There's a "catch," of course. You shouldn't use it during the Induction Phase of Atkins ("Phase 1" of South Beach Diet) since it contains 24 net carbs* per cup. (Since Induction is only for two weeks, it's worth the wait.)

*Net carbs are the carb grams minus fiber grams, since fiber performs the same function as insulin - regulating blood glucose - the fiber grams can be subtracted from the total carb grams to get "net carbs."

Here's a list of the ingredients:

"Vital Wheat Gluten, Whole Grain Oat Flour, Oat Bran, Oat Fiber, Flaxseed Meal, Whole Grain Rye Flour, Wheat Bran, Whole Grain Soy Flour, Sea Salt, Turbinado Sugar, Crystalline Fructose."

Best of all, you're going to love the taste of it!

Im not a big fan of the taste of soy flour. Ive found that almond flour tastes better and makes a great substitute for the soy. Ive never been able to find it in a regular grocery store, I buy mine at a Whole Foods market.

If youre in induction, just as belly_acres says...no flour at all. Ive found a great online recipebook and sample menus for all stages of Atkins

Check out the Pork Rind Pizza recipe...incredible.

But make the crust SUPER SUPER thin and not in one big piece. I usually cook 4 pieces on a cookie sheet (4-5 inches in diameter..about 13 or 14 minutes) Ive also not added the italian seasoning and garlic powder and cooked the crust plain and make a low carb flatbread. Other ways Ive made the crust:

Before cooking (exact recipe minus seasonings):
1. Top with white cheddar popcorn seasoning or regular cheese seasoning - this works great as substitute sandwich bread
2. Lightly coat with splenda and cinnamon, takes away the pork rind taste - top with a cream chesse, sour cream, splenda topping YUMM YUMM

Try substituting 1/4 cup of whatever flour you use with Milled Flaxseed. 0 net carbs and 2600mg of Omega 3's per serving.

When I make pancakes, I use 3/4 cup flour and 1/4 cup flaxseed

Do you mean regular flour or some other type that you are mixing with the flaxseed meal?

So, does all soy flour taste so bad? I was hoping it was just the brand that I got. Blaine seems to like it, and his looks lighter in color than mine.
