So what did everyone think of this one? I cannot believe that "it" was choking her.WOW but I wish we could have known more. The ending was pretty good though. They did at least tell us that the family did move out and another did move in, but within 6 months, that family too moved out. I think that if that they had a good priest in that house, they could have gotten rid of it.The priest they had did not seem to know how to get rid or evil nor did he do it correctly. He did not go into all of the rooms of the house like its supposed to be.

Well this one was crazy. I know that the first guy was on to something though. I have done lots of reading about the different types of hauntings and what stood out for me was the fact that he said whatever it was triggered everyone's individual fears. The paranormal investigator who came in confirmed the theory to me because she said that she sensed something not human and evil. From the sources that I've read, they say that any evil spirit that is not of human origin is considered to be a demon. Demons are aware of peoples personal thoughts and fears and often times play upon it. Also, if you look at what was done with the second family... they were happy and intended to stay that way. Knowing what they all wanted, wouldn't it be feasible that the evil spirit would intentionally do everything to break it apart. Father thinks wife and daughter is crazy, Daughter skips school and mutilates herself, and mother just goes crazy as the father is hell bent on not wanting to bother with what was going on. This was a good one!

I dont understand why that woman keeps renting the house again and again. Didnt anyone tell her it was dangerous? What if something happens to one of her tenants - wont she feel guilty? Is she evil herself?

I don't know if I'd call the landlord evil, I mean, you have to sympathize with her, she has to make money off the house somehow, and it's history of not keeping steady renters whould make it really tough to sell.
On the other hand, if she purposfully set up every rental contract in such a way that she knew that every tenant would jump ship before it was up, essentially screwing every tenant out of a deposit or a few months rent, she could really make a killing off these poor people (no pun intended)

I think the 4th or 5th family is in the house for this year so far. Yes, she baought it without knowing and has a "white elephant" of sorts. However, she does not warn the people before moving in either and also maintains this place like a slum lord does their properties.

If a person wants to jump ship, she encourages them to find a subleasor to move in so they don't loose their deposit or breech their contract. However, I believe she still pockets much extra money. We are seeing this place has gone through an enormous amount of tenants each year. Linda was about the longest lasting one and it almost cost her life and others when homicidal and suicidal ideation set in at the end prior to hospitalization and spiritual intervention for herself and daughter.

The owner actaully had the choice of allowing the Catholic to investigate the house for a possible exorcism or rent it for money. Even being Catholic herself, she chose the later.

Also, the first priest involved was a fundalmentalist and about shook in his shoes when entering the house. He did not cover all rooms and interior closets, etc. Actually the activity increased after his blessing and even a pet hamster was found decapitated afterwards. We also found out that years ago a bird breeder lived in that house and found birds decapitated from time to time as well.

The Catholic Priest wanted to get an exorcism investigation launched, but the owner shut that down. His term was "Just blessing that place would be like p- on a camp fire to put it out."

This place also outreached to our (investigators) homes and families when Linda moved out. Many of us had extreme activity in their own homes for a spell, including myself.

this one was a good one, Kelsey..if I'd have seen that scarey clown in my hallway, I'd have freaked! Were any of the rest of you freaked by that clown guy? Too bad the rental lady is more interested in $. She'd get more $ out of it if the demon were gone. You'd think she'd be liable, or the owner of the property would be if someone-renter or their family member got hurt by the demon, like they'd sue for injuries and her lack of disclosure. Perhaps she doesn't believe and doesn't want to, preferring to think her renters are just sissies.

i dont understand why they waited to have a blessing in the house until they actually had some proof that something was going on inside the home. if it was me, i would do a blessing right away once i moved in. and that priest wasnt a good one because he didnt even complete the whole blessing!

also, i dont think realtors would tell the potential renters/buyers of properties that the place is haunted because most of them just want to get the homes off their hands. especially in situations where they know about the history of the home. thats why you should probably ask them beforehand, why the last owner left or is selling the home? and if u still feel that there is something more to the story then you might as well do a little background research on the area and home yourself.

all i can say is sometimes things, in this situation houses, can be too good to be true when it comes to prices. so you need to think twice before you move in. because the decision you make could put you and your family at risk.

good point, diana, but I think that this priest was scared and didn't want to continue the blessing, after all, priests are people, too and feel scared. I think he sensed the evil and didn't want to actually confront it, so he made a speedy exit.

ok, just to clarify, the "priest" seen in the episode who did the really half-@ss house blessing was not actually a Catholic priest? That seems to be what mprgreg said.

I know that in some states, if you are a property owner and you KNOW your property has a history of being haunted, you are by law required to disclose this to new renters or buyers. I wish that were the law in this situation so people wouldn't keep getting jacked up!
Also, I am glad someone pointed out that this was an inhuman haunting. I do believe that demons exist and when the man said this thing could read their deepest fears, I knew then it wasn't just another dead person! Ghosts don't have that ability in my experience.
What got me so freaked out was when the medium thought she was picking up on a man sitting in the chair. YIKES! That wasn't just a man! RUNAWAY!!!!
The priest was even scared to fully bless the house. Perhaps he wasn't trained enough to deal with that kind of evil spirit.

Yes eek,you made very good point.I do believe that the entity was more than just a spirit.I also believed and had a feeling when I watched the episode, that it was a demon. Yes and that priest was either too scared, or did not know how to fully bless a house. He did not do it fully. In my experience, our priest went to EVERY single room, and also the outside of the house, and sprinkled holy water all over the walls while saying verses from the bible out loud.It did work too.We never had trouble with the demon(i am pretty sure it was a demon) again.

Kelsey, you make a good point.I think the realtor is just plain strange. She is Catholic, according to mprgreg, yet she did not want the house to be blessed by a priest. How strange? She would make more money if she would get the house blessed. Then people would actually want to live in the house. It is just pondering me as to why she did not want thw house excorcized? Confused

When we watched the show, different noises kept happening. Typical. But what caught my attention was the discord in the family like Greg mentioned. That is what happened to my family. I posted the incident in the other forum. And *Suprisingly* not all religions acknowledge ghost, spirits or even demons. Can you IMAGINE THAT??? Tell them to come OVER MY HOUSE!

sadiemae, yes i have come to realize that the entity i saw when i was little, was a demon.I had believed it to be an old man spirit for 14 years, but I have discussed this issue with a lot of people, including my mom's church group, and seeing it in the bible that human spirits do not come back to earth. It is weird.I still kind of want to believe that human spirits do come back.It is really hard for me but i trust in god and i know god would not let me down.He is the one who protected me from that demon when i was a little girl.It could have done much worse, but god wouldnt have let it do so. sparkie, that's because people in church are programmed to believe that ghosts do not exist and if by chance you happen to see/experience one, you'd better get yourself to confession and or a mental health doctor because you're losing your mind. However, this is not so. As everyone here will attest, you do NOT have to do anything to experience the paranormal.

I totally believe in ghost. I grew up in a house that was haunted. My Mom and my one sister saw the ghost. I never saw him but I did hear him walking in the hallway. I know it was him because I was the only one in the house. I think I was 12. But I'm glad I not alone in my beliefs. I say him because we looked up the history on the house and a man died there and the had the wake there. Smile

We actually had a Catholic Priest help in this towrds the end. He is different and believes in spirits and that they are not all demons.

The first priest portrayed in the first blessing, was a fundemental one and not Catholic as mentioned.

And Janice(aka lovejeff)don't be in such a hurry to be grown up. Enjoy your youth-days. Life happens so fast, seems like at this age Christmas comes and then you blink and it's here again, the years start to pass fast after a certain age. Right now it might seem like eternity because you are young, but you are very intelligent and mature for your age. Some good advice; don't settle for a man who is NOT everything you want and can live with; all men have flaws, but some flaws should NOT be tolerated; like domestic violence, for example.

Hello Everyone!

My name is Steven LaChance and I lived in the Fear House with my three children.

I am having some home computer problems, but I could not wait to come on here and say hello to everyone. Thank you to my partner MPRGreg for answering all of the questions.

I am going to try to address a few things that seem to be what you are asking.

You guys are absolutely right when you assumed it was a demonic haunting. And I absolutely agree with you that this type of haunting will play upon your fears.

It took me quite some time before I would discuss the actual appearance of the clown and for the first time publicly it was addressed on this episode of "A Haunting." When my son, Elliot, first described the clown to me, I thought it was a childs way of putting a face and a name to what he had seen. This of course would have been a natural response to most situations. However, when other children that lived in the house started seeing the clown it became clear to me that something else was going here. Then when the adults started to experience it, I understood that we were dealing with something much more clever than I ever gave it credit for. It seemed to take on the form of anything that a person was afraid of.

I was very happy with how the show turned out. There is alot of the story that there was simply not time to tell.

Greg has told everyone how to get to my account of what happened to myself and my family. Also, there is a page there dedicated to Linda and the ordeal we went through.

I am now a paranormal investigator myself. I am absolutely devoted to those children and families that are experiencing extreme hauntings. I have come along way since those early days in the Fear House. I have been able to help many people and point them in the right direction. When an event leaves you with a purpose then that event is then considered a blessing. This has been the one way i could bring sanity to a situation which I cannot better describe than insane.

I thought I would leave you with two quotes from my writings of the Union, Missouri Fear House that pretty much sums it up.

"You see I do believe in ghosts. I still drive past that house every once in awhile and when I get enough nerve I look up at the upstairs window and it's there. Watching. Waiting. Angry. Sometimes its screams still wake me from my sleep. Its infectious scream creeping into my dreams turning them into nightmares. I still don’t sleep very well. In my dreams I see a faceless man standing in that basement washing away blood from his naked blood covered body. Grunting. Panting. Breathing. The breathing you’d hear when you were alone with it in a room. The breathing you would hear when you knew it was there. Heavy. Labored. Breathing. Yes, I do believe in ghosts. I do believe in ghosts. And maybe you should too?"

And here some thoughts for and about Linda. This is a little long, but this is for and about the one person that almost lost her life in this house.

"One of the first things Linda asked of me was to stay with her until we saw this thing through until a conclusion. In her mind, Linda always felt that once we were done with the Union House our friendship would be lost. I promised her I would be there until the end and then after. Many people have come and gone throughout the years of the Union investigation. Mine and Linda's friendship held fast through the good times and bad. When someone else would come and go, she would look at me and say, "Hey, you're still here." I would always reply, "Of course I am, I promised."

One of the many amazing things about Linda was that she fully understood that we were
living through something that very few people have. She was always willing to open her
house to this group or that group, this person or that person. Very rarely, did she ever tell
someone that they couldn't come. Time and time again, as the people came and went, people would tell me that Linda always made them feel at home, with a cup of coffee and a piece of cake most times. "I want them to be able to learn from this house," she would tell
me time and time again.

Halfway, through the first year, during the part of the investigation with Linda, she looked at me with tears in her eyes. Three groups had already came and went. Each of them
telling her on their way out the door, "Yep, your house is haunted." Each time with this
being said I could see a twinge of frustration in her smile. On this day, she was ready to tell me what was on her mind. With tears in her eyes, fists clenched in frustration, Linda said to me, "Steven, I can get any damn fool from off the street to come into this house and I guarantee you that within ten minutes they could tell me the damned place is haunted.
Each one of these groups comes in and says to me that the damn house is haunted. Then
they leave and we never hear from them again. I know my house is haunted, or why in the
hell would we have them here in the first place. What we need to find is someone to tell us how to either deal with this haunting or how to get rid of the damn thing." Shortly, after
this conversation I handed Linda Lorraine Warren's phone number. "If Lorraine cannot
help us, I don't know who else can." Lorraine being the angel on earth that she is got us
through the hardest of times.

The hardest of times?

On an evening in early October of 2005, I saved my friends life. At that time I had no idea
that Linda was suffering from what some would call demonic oppression, and she was well
on her way to possession. I went to the house to pick up my friend to take her and admit
her into a mental hospital. It was the only thing I could think of to do. I had to get her out of that house. I had to get her away from everything. By this time, she had already
threatened suicide a number of times. I went into the house on that day. The air inside
was very heavy and I knew from the horrific smell that I did not have very much time to get
her out. We reached the front door. Linda stopped. Hesitated. Then she just stood there. Frozen. Almost like she was unable to take another step. I heard the pounding starting from upstairs. I took my right hand, placing it on her back I shoved firmly and we went out the front door. Once Linda was outside she never looked back. The hospital told us that her blood pressure when we arrived was something like 198 over 236. However, her pulse was only at 40. It was a miracle that
Linda had not had a stroke. It was a miracle that Linda was alive.

The days and weeks that followed were some of the most horrific weeks of my life. I saw
Linda slip further and further away into possession. From one moment to the next we did
not know who we were dealing with, but what we were sure of was that we were not dealing with Linda. Through these weeks there were hours of talking, hours of church, numerous blessings, hours of counseling, yelling, screaming, and crying. Demonic attack after demonic attack. Then on a sunny fall day in early November my friend came back to me. The hold of the demon became less and less by each passing day. Linda became stronger and stronger.

"Yes, I am still your friend, and no I am not going anywhere." The promise being made over
and over again. One day in the car coming from the hospital Linda asked, "What do we do
now?" What would we do now? I thought about it and then I answered, " Linda you and I
stood on the edge of something greater than we are or ever will be. What we do now is to
try to put our lives back together and start living again," How do we do that?" she asked
me silently with tears in her eyes. By this time her family had completely fallen apart and
her daughter was on the same path Linda had been on. "One day at a time, that is how we do it. One day at a time. Together."

My friend Linda is almost fully recovered now and ready to tell her story. "Steven, our
story is important, we have a responsibility to tell it." And that is what we are getting ready to do. To pay it forward. To take the second chance that God gave us and to do something valuable with it. Ready to tell her story to anyone that will listen, ready
to help a family fighting off the attacks of a demonic presence. What else would you expect
from Linda? All of this time, I had always thought that it was me helping Linda, but in the end it was Linda helping me. Saving me."

And for that I owe my life to her.

Thank you for letting us share our story with you and thank you to the Discovery Channel and New Dominion for doing such a wonderful job of telling it.

Wow. That's quite the story.

It must be very frustrating to have a investigative group come in and not report back. It's like all they want to do is to confirm than to help and that's not an earmark of a good group.

Has any research been done about the building of the home and/or land that may help explain why the house is so haunted? Judging from the episode and photos from another post given, it sounds like both the house and lot needs to be blessed.

Hi Steven! By all means WELCOME to our group! I hope if you come back that you continue to make return trips to visit with us. Also thanks for sharing your story, both on tv and with us. I for one, am touched by how you care enough to take care of your friend Linda who started out as a stranger and became a friend. Your story to me was not only a scary true haunting ghost story but also a very touching story of friendship. You sound like you're a very caring friend, we need more people like you in this world. Please come back so we can get to know you and ask questions.

First of all, my computer is down so I will check in as often as I can until I can get back online more often.

Wow! Thank you for all of the very kind words. There is alot to this story that one hour could not cover. However, I thought they did a very good job of telling the general story. They did not over dramtise it. They told it the way it was.

The history? The house was built in 1936. The land it was built upon has a very interesting history. The man who owned the land was John T Crowe. He is famous for starting the first Missouri Militia in the Civil War. If you put in Capt. John T. Crowe Union, Missouri into your browsers it will take you to a website that will answer all of those civil war questions. The house is actually built on the area that was once the slave quarters. The land on and around the house has had a interesting past. During the Civil War, there is a location very near the house that was used as an infirmary which later became the Franklin County Poor House. What is interesting about the poor house is that many of the people that ended up there were buried in unmarked graves in the area around which would have included also where the house is built. The neighborhood the house is in has had it share of tragedy. A woman killed her husband and then killed herself in a house directly across from the Union House. There was also a few suicides that took place in different properties around the house. See, we are dealing with something that is multi-layered. It is believed, as you saw in the episode, that there are up to four portals or vortexes located on the property. Which this explains the constant coming and going of different entities. It is also believed that a demonic has also taken ahold of the property. The landlady was offered an excorcism of the land which she turned down.

We know that the haunting has been going on there since some time in 1965. We have been able to track it back that far with the help of some of the families that have lived in the house.

There are some things that remain the same in these experiences and there are always differences.

The current family living there at the moment have reported having no problems at all. I am hoping that all of the prayers that have been said are finally working and that maybe someone can live there in peace. No one else has been able to up until this point.

The clown became a very prominent feature of this haunting. An investigator came in who had a daughter who was in the early stages of pregnancy. After this investigator left the house, it was a few weeks later, the night before she was to take her daughter to her first appointment with the doctor who would be delivering the baby, she had a dream. In the dream, she was standing in the side yard looking up at the Union House. She was standing there with a number of people. She said that something caught her attention and she looked to her side to see the clown laughing while it help a baby by its feet and slammed it to the ground. Over and over again, laughing. The next day when she took her daughter to the doctor they found out that the baby was already dead and needed to be removed. Was this paranormal? Who knows for sure, but this is how this thing did things.

This house is a predator. It should not be rented to anyone. Above all, it shoudld not be rented to people with children. It torments children as you have seen. Right after Linda moved from the home. I got an email from the landlady which told me a new family had moved in with six children. Her words were, "Six beautiful angels who are bringing life back to the house." This is the family that lasted a total of four and a half months and also moved out due to the haunting.
