After doing a valuable time of research on the story, the people involved, and the book(yes, theres a book) I have come to the conclusion that this story is either:

1. Completely false, fabricated by the author(victim) for financial purposes
2. True to some extent, but DSC has changed it for their own reasons

Let me explain. Some of you know that I have very strong feelings about this episode. If you look at some of my older posts you will see what I mean. I joined this forum after seeing this episode. Why? Well, I've explained (and angered) a lot of people when I announced myself as a practicing wiccan, or one who follows the "old" religion. As I've stated before, the portrayel of witches or anything non-christian has always been linked to satan or evil with the media. In this episode, it's no different. The two wiccan/supernatural elements present were the use of the witchcraft book used to summon the spirits and of course, the wiccan priest who "tried" to exorcise the house and eventually "made things worse."
With that said, and with my own doubts about the events and nature of the story, I set out to do some research and found some interesting bits..

Look at any review of the book or article comments on the story through out the itnernet and you will find the same suggetions from the readers- the events dont seem to add up, the similarities to the movie poltergeist, the theme of indian burial, and the religious influence of evangelism. It all seems like a movie plot to me, or an attempt to create one in the least.

If you read the book (which i dont suggest doing unless you want to waste 12 dollars) you come to know that Randy was never facinated in just "talking" to the spirits buried under his house. In fact, it states something to the notion that he was having fanancial problems and wanted to use witchcraft to get rich or make money. He had "heard" of people finding buried treasures around his area and had the idea that spirits could help him find him these treasures.
In one chapter it explains of a dumbfinding incident in which the mother consults her bible and talks to it, asking if it was witchcraft that had caused these spirits to torment them.. THe bible somehow suddenly swings left in response to no. She then asked it if they should get out of the house and it swung left for yes. I know you're thinking WTF - I was too for it sounds more hoockey than the events portrayed in the episode. Theres also a suggestion of a family curse for being the reason of these unfolded events. Actually, the book explains that it wasn't Randy's incantation that caused everything, but that his father had bought a cursed table and this somehow activated the curse(yeah i know more hoockey stuff). It just sounds all too hoockey to believe..

I didnt bother reading the whole thing, you will know why once you start reading. The whole book is filled with bad editing and with lines that look as if they were taken from a badly written script, further suggesting it's validity. Furthermore, the book is labeled as _FICTION_ by the publishing company, even though it supposed to be a true story. Does that say anything?

Now, you can take all this with grain of salt. I know this thread will spark some naysaysers (turtle and ab), so Im going to say that Im not try to convince anyone of why they should NOT BELIEVE or why THEY SHOULD believe this episode, I am simply stating facts I found. You can come to your own conclussion. I have provided links to the book and some articles below this post.

You should also know that Randy is now a very rich person. He was earned a nice amount of money from the DSC and from book sales. In retrospect, if the story is true, one can say that Randy's spell to get rich with witchcraft really did work..
