Edokun, do comic books still sell well? I just wondered with all the video games that kids and adults(my hubby included)play.I am glad to hear that you read them. What are some of your favorites?
well the things that were popular in my childhood were beanie babies, giga pets, furby's..LOL, super nintendo, the regular nintendo. The shows were "barney"..LOL..I LOVED Barney when I was like 5 and 6..haha.. "rugrats", "Hey Arnold", "ren and stimpy", "doug."..Man, now I am starting to miss the old days , the early to mid 90's!!..lolllll
Kelsey, new comic books continue to be good sellers, but most stores find they have to be diverse enough to continue surviving. Some only order minimal amounts and others find graphic novel sales are driving the market than actual comic books. There's always something new out in the market every year.
As for back issue sales, it's bordering on being nearly dead. At least for the stores in my area, they stopped dealing in that because interest is not that high and most people have turned to ebay and mail order to find them.

all this 70s stuff! I wasn't quite born yet, 1981 here, but I LOVE the 80s, *sings* memories* hehe its crazy to think kids that were born in 88 are no legal haha...
Oops lovejeff I don't know how I missed your post earlier I found it when I scanned to the top. Yes! now I remember giga pets and furbys tee he he. Have you seen the movie Grimlins, they are like the evil cousins of furbys.
Kelsy, I can't say for superhero comics (I stopped reading those a long while back) but as for up and coming stuff: The Goon is really bizarre, zombie-bashing, fun.
Based on reports, X-men, Spiderman, Superman and Batman continue to be good sellers.
I'm getting back into comics only because two of my favorite film/shows are getting a revival in the comic book medium and they are TRON and Gargoyles.
Thanks edokun...I just was curious because I would like to add comic books to the book collection in the hospital activity center.I have had some kids ask for x-men.I'll keep the others in mind as I look through donations.
from the 80s I remember, you cant do that on television, smurfs, he-man, tight rolling your pants, slap bracelets (now back), 80s love music (which I still love) the brat pack haha, reg nintendo!, cabbage patch kids ! ahh so much more but i dont wanna bore anyone
kelsey, most comics these days are not really targeted towards young kids. Depending on your concerns towards violence in comic books, it's hard not to avoid.
info to kelsey..I worked in a large hotel back in the 90's and we had regular conventioners rent our conference rooms to sell comic books, one day after work I stopped by and was surprised to see the large number of adults and children there. These same groups were regular renters and they reported that the comic business was thriving at that time.
Yes freckler....the good old days...if only we knew it then
Thanks for the info. on comic books.I think any time I can offer reading materials in the activity center that kids enjoy, it is a hit against the playstation system! LOL I had one boy playing the game system today who was concentrating so hard to win the game, I thought he was going to chew his tongue off!
greywolf_23, Ah, how cute! a "little" baby huh? My youngest grandson is 7 months old and I have a new one on the way in Jan, hip..hip..hooray!
kelsey5441962, It was fun to be a teen in the 70's, wasn't it? and it's nice to know that there are others on here that dig The Partridge Family too. Groovey!
I don't think Yvette is pathetic,I don't think she expects the response she gets from the spirit that got challenged to react. when you call on an upset spirit, they will let you know, they don't like being bothered.
