RE: http://www.skeptic.com/eskeptic/06-08-10.html
I'd hardly call this a debunking. This is clearly an editorial by someone who was looking for criticisms to lob on TAPS/Ghost Hunters. Granted there are a lot of criticisms to be had, but to say that this link to this editorial is proof that Ghost Hunters was proven fraudulent is well...fraudulent.
As much as some ghost enthusiasts want there to be ghosts and want to believe the evidence that they will always find paranormal findings whether or not they're really there. It's called confirmation bias. Equally, someone who is a professed skeptic will have a confirmation bias that will be biased toward skeptical conclusions. All that this essay is is a skeptic who would not believe anything paranormal exists anyway espousing her beliefs in an editorial. It does not seem that she even called TAPS, asked their opinions, got the original footage to dissect (sorry, but "Go to YouTube to see this video" is kind of a joke). Now, while I do not believe everything on Ghost Hunters (due to the fact that most of these guys are very amateurish), I have an equal, if not more so, disregard for this skeptical essay. Truthfully, I just have a problem with someone that starts out with a conclusion before the data comes in. In this case this woman did not even get additional data...just supposed "debunking Ghost Hunters" footage...also on YouTube. Give me a break.

This is kinda funny. It's a forum where people are debating the Skeptic essay "TAPS vs SAPS".

well I am not at all impressed with the celebrity paranormal show. it was so fake and stupid and Gary Busey made it worse. He is so controlling and rude. UGH!

Celebrity Paranormal reminds me of a famous person version of the Scariest Places on Earth. I am a regular viewer of Ghost Hunters, but geesh! They throw out stuff that I KNOW is paranormal. Come on! They're going to shut down their own show if they keep that up. Who wants to watch a show about haunted places only to have these so-called gurus throw out evidence and call it not haunted? What's the point? EEK

Hee-hee...I like Celebrity Paranormal and Scariest Places on Earth. They're both like "MTV's Fear" only CCP is "Fear" with semi-famous people and SPOE is "Fear" with families.
I actually liked the Waverly episode of CCP with Gary Busey. He was cracking me up throughout with the stuff he'd say. Some of the things he said were pretty perceptive, but some of them...like when they were talking about 'shadow people' and he said, "Oh, the black ones...those are bad," I busted a gut laughing. That guy is too crazy. Too many motorcycle crashes without a helmet, that one.
What I was surprised is last weekend we watched one with Joe Piscapo ("Are you from Jersey?"), Mariel Hemmingway and some Olympic athlete (Picabo Street). Picabo actually ended up being the coolest one of all- she wasn't afraid, was curious, and kept her cool throughout. Unlike this D-list chick from "The Real World" who kept screaming anytime she thought she was going to get sent back out on another mission. She was on a very short fuse that one. We'd just see her face and start cracking up...she was hilarious. It took nothing to make her scream. Besides, they were in a prison and she was walking around the first half of the show showing her midriff. I mean, the male inmate ghosts probably REALLY liked that! Ha ha!
I'm bummed that I missed the new SPOE that were aired over Halloween. No one's uploading them either. Bummer!!!!
I was watching CCP with my boyfriend last week- we were busting up laughing it was soooo funny! He even commented to me that he enjoyed that more than "Ghost Hunters" because "these people are genuinely afraid!" Plus, we just like saying rude things while they're running around like chickens with their heads cut off. [Actually we do that when we watch "A Haunting" too, but we'll try to say the actors' lines right before they say them themselves and oddly, we're usually pretty close to the actual lines! Every time we watch he says to me, "You ought to write these shows!" But come on! How hard is it to say: "Watch out!" "What was that?!" "We've got to get out of here!" What was really fun was watching the Ireland one because we got to do it with accents! Aw, fun times, fun times...]

I have watched all of the above shows and I too , have my opinions of each of them. I just love ghost shows/stories..and relish each and everyone for their entertainment, and I wish that there were tons more! I did watch a local show here in Louisiana...around Halloween time..it was called "A Haunting in Louisiana". it was about "The Myrtles Plantation" ( which, incidently,is supposedly one of the U.S.'s most scariest places). On Halloween night I went to The Myrtles and purchased the above particular DVD at the gift store for $25 bucks..and wouldn't ya know it, Halloween night it aired on T.V...lol..Oh well...maybe I'll sell it on ebay.lol...
