Hi
I'm new to the boards so let me begin by saying hello. In short, I had a boxer who recently died of old age and she was a great dog. I have a mini dachsund who is 10 and starting to have health issues, he is going to vet here in a few weeks to get some things looked at.

The bottom line is I miss having a big dog around, I felt safer. My husband is gone a lot, drives OTR. I was thinking of rescuing a doberman from the local doberman rescue group here in florida. My sister has one she rescued and he is just a great dog, named DJ; I have fallen in love with the breed because of him. I already filled out the paper work/application. There are 4 that need homes at this time and I prefer an older puppy or adult (not sure of ages).
I am looking for any information you can give to help me out as this is a big decision. I've read a lot about the breed, but would like to hear from people who own dobermans.
TIA!!!
