I live in the bahamas and was helping out at the local vets when this huge dog walked in. His name was tongo and defintiely one of the biggest dogs i have ever seen. At first i thought that it was a mastiff cross, but then i heard the owner say it was a South African Boerboel. I have done some research and this is without a doubt one of my favorite breeds, and i was just wondering if anyone else has ever heard of it.

Yeah... I've heard of them. I saw the name once and didn't know what it was, so I looked it up on google...

I have not looked it up yet to verify, but are these not the ones bred originally to hunt lions??

I just looked it to it farther and yes they are the ones I was thinking of. Just a beautifull dog.

The dog in See Spot Run was a bullmastiff, very beautiful dog... similar to these. The Boerboel was bred from mastiffs....

The South African Boerboel look alot like the bullmastiff except bullmastiffs have long tails and it looks like both female and male South African Boerboel have the same size head but bullmastiff males have huge head that are bigger then the female bullmastiffs also the South African Boerboel have longer snouts then the bullmastiff and I think the bullmastiff is blocker in size

that is a massive dog. I have seen Great Dains at my old farm, and i thought they were big. But Dang! These dogs are huge.
