Registered: 05-13-07 | I own a tricolor border collie and wanted to find out what other people have to say about border collies. Mine is only 5 months old and is such a puppy. He's so adorable and loves to play in the water. To me he's a bit big for his breed, but I don't care. I didn't buy him for his breeding. Besides he was a free puppy. Honestly, he's worth over one million dollars to me. I never tire about talking about talking about my border collie. I figured other border collie owners would feel the same way. |

Registered: 10-26-06 | I own an unusual Border Collie. Ashenpaw is now 3 years old, he came from a farmstead where his mom and dad worked the farm. He is a heavy frame, half-wooly <from mom> half-sleek <from dad> coat, black and white. None of this is ultra unusual... the crazy part is he is a couch potato! Which is great, all three of our dogs <Sheltie, Brittany, and Border> are indoor dogs with us. We live in town with a very small yard. Ash sleeps on the couch most of the day and barely destroyed a thing as a puppy. He IS a problem solver! Recently he learned how to open the dog's toy box to fetch his favorite squeaker toys without asking for permission. This is mildly problematic, as he tends to 'unsqueak' squeaker toys! He is absolutely manic about playing fetch with a ball or frisbee... other than that he's an economy sized lapdog! Now, Ash has been a joy to own! But, I second that border's are no-no's for inexperienced dog owners. I grew up dogs always being around, and helped my parent's train the family dogs growing up. I owned a shetland sheepdog from puppyhood before getting Ashenpaw with my husband as the first dog we'd raise together. We were ready for the challenges he would bring us, and were fortunate to have one that responded exceptionally well to training! |

Whoops. lol. I meant to say that I don't have enough time to exercise a border collie, not just a dog. I own a beagle and a pointer currently and have plenty of time to exercise them. I don't have all day to exercise a border collie though! |
