You can get a neutered dog that comes from a good kennel or resembles and has the health and temperement of a dog from a good kennel from a rescue.
Think about it. I breed. I'm a good breeder with ethics and values, but I breed. I'm telling you to go out and RESCUE. If you were looking for a Dane, I'd try to convince you to do the same thing. I'd hook you up with Harlequin Haven Great Dane and Saint Bernard rescue. You're not rescuing a Dane. You're rescuing a dog that needs a lot more help than Danes when it comes to being adopted, due to their bad reputation.
What does it matter if you get from a breeder?

Whether or not I'm mature enough is not your call especially since you don't know me, but believe I'm mature enough maybe not age wise but mentally I am.
It might be a collection of things 1. I'm not 21 2. MY father won't be apart of the training and all of that which from what I remember is a must for everyone that'll be around the dog alot to take part in all of that.(I think both responsible breeders and rescues either require or HIGHLY recommend it)

It doesn't really matter if I get 1 from a breeder thats just what I had my sight set on, but then again alot has changed over the 2 years.
I think alot of it is that I will know the sire and dam, see the temperments, and I know this'll sound stupid because I know an adopted dog will work harder to please me but I kind of have a high standard because my last one was so perfect for me.

If you rear a puppy right, get it socialized around dogs, animals, and people, then it generally has a good disposition.
Do you know how many of those dogs in shelters and rescues are well behaved, well adjusted, and good natured? MANY, because most rescues and shelters won't keep around dogs that are seriously aggressive.
It appears that you are a lost cause, and that things must go your way or no way at all.

I don't have my mind set on only getting a pup I might get an adult.
Belief me I've heard plenty of times I'm a lost cause but thats just family mess but things don't have to go my way mostly because nothing ever has.

You've checked all these rescues? I found 75 pit bull and pit bull crosses between all of their sites on petfinder.com. Some look like wonderful pets.

I've checked out a couple of those. I'm not driving half way across the nation though, with those gas prices so high. But I've checked out MPRGroup Chako Spindletop & pitgirls Villalobos Paw printz and I look on Petfinder and 1-800-save-a-pet every once and awhile

Obviously not, if you're using it as an excuse. I hate to be rude, but you're quite the frustrating case.
All you have to do is talk to these people and if you ARE ready to house a dog, they will work with you.
By them turning you down, I'm seriously thinking that you're not the right home for these dogs right now. It's hard to believe otherwise.

Let me guess... you live with your parents? You don't have enough money? Do you realize that it takes at least a grand or two a year to properly care for a dog, including vet and diet, proper housing, etc? That doesn't include any emergency vet visits.
A 40 pound bag of decent kibble is 30-40 a bag. Most vet visits have at least a 20-50 office fee. That doesn't count the exam, shots, medications, etc. If you want ears cropped, that's nearly a $500 surgery. Neutering is between $150 and $300.
If you were to get a rescued Pit or AmStaff, you could probably wave the annual shots and the neutering, and if you found an older dog with a crop, there's money saved. Most rescues charge $200 for a dog who's current on their shots and fixed. That's a STEAL, when you're going to do the same thing to a dog from a breeder.
And if you've contacted rescues and are being turned down, perhaps you should get all of your ducks in line before considering getting a dog... because good breeders won't sell to you, either.

Well I live my mom at the moment helping her with everything including younger siblings, but I'm moving with my father because apparently I need a father figure but that would've been nice like WAY before now but I'm doing fine. I'll be working for him in his shop. Money is no problem for me really.
I've talked to alot of breeders and answered all of their questions and all of them say I'm good to go

Grimmbull, I recently adopted an Airedale terrier. Before that, I was considering buying a pup from a responsible breeder. In the end, I rescued. I spent weeks and weeks researching for a good breeder and only found about two anywhere near me, that we good breeders. They showed the dogs and the dogs cost a fortune.
Rescuing was soooo simple. I got a wonderful dog for a low price and the rescue organization I worked with was wonderful! She is certainly not breed standard, but she's sweet, intelligent, and gorgeous.
Getting a dog from a responsible breeder is going to be very difficult. Ten times harder then getting from a rescue. If a rescue won't adopt a dog out to you, a breeder won't give you a puppy. May I just ask what all your reasons for not wanting to go to a rescue are? You may very well have some very good reasons, but so far, the only one I've heard is transportation issue.

Mostly just history of the dog but I think when I get the ok from my father(since he owns the property) I'm going to try and work with spindletop since, I believe, they're down in austin and they work with rescues all over the nation so if their specific rescue doesn't have the right dog for me then they can help me out with finding 1

The history of a dog can be easy to get. You can specifically request a dog with a history too. You and your father should both just check out some rescues in the area.
Rescuing is one of the best things you can do. It sounds like you're still a bit unsure about this whole getting a dog thing. But you have plenty of time and the perfect dog doesn't have to be from a breeder.

It seems like I might have to put down my very first dog soon, he's really old and he's got thyroid problems, so hopefully he'll either go quietly instead of us having to put him down cuz I don't know if I could deal with that

Please try to work with that rescue. I'm sure you can find a pup (or even adult) that would be a good family member for you. quote: Originally posted by Canterbury_Tails: There are a lot of popular lines that I've heard of, but most of these dogs appear to be a bit too bulky and bred for looks. (Gotta, JEEP, Razor's Edge.)
I don't know how you consider Jeep to be "too bulky" and I'd certainly not call a fighting dog bred for looks.
