i think that depending on where you grew up and how much money you had like made you choose the breed you did like if you were rich or maybe even normal you like them lil foo-foo dogs such as poodles, cavaliers, and bichon frises
if you grew up like me straight up poor you liked ether the tough breeds(pits, rotts), chihuahuas, the ugly bottom of the barrel dogs you find at the pound, or just some dog that walked by your house and didnt have a collar.
I don't think it does. I'm not all rich and fancy and I like Cavaliers and some small dogs. I'm not poor either, and I would love to go to the pound and find a dog that needed a home. You know that you can find purebreds at the pound.
There is actually a mutt that has been wandering around a relative's house that I am visiting and I am seriously thinking about feeding her. I need to convince my parents to keep her if I take her in though. So It doesn't alaways depend on how much money you have.
im not rich, but i got a shih tzu from the the pound for $40, and i'm also getting another small dog from the pound. but i see ur point. i don't think it has that much to do with it, but maybe. for example, i'm Mexico, its pretty rare to find a poodle, at least in the place i live, u mainly see chihuahuas. while in France, i'm guessing u see poodles everywhere.
no we usually have the dogs no one wants and rich people that got rich instead of being born rich have whatever but what do i know every1 ive ever met is broke down poor besides the other side of my family.

Ok then why is it that there is a wide variety of breeds in my neighborhood (I've lived there my entire life), my parents think that pits and rotties and dogs like that are menaces, and I like bully breeds and small dogs and mutts. How do you explain that?
Socioeconomics may have something to do with the dogs that people choose.
Pit Bulls are found in bad neighborhoods because most people there lack the education to know how to properly care for animals and see them as a social status instead of a pet. So yeah, poor people do like tough breeds. It's a sad trend and I wish it would stop.
No. I grew up with a beagle and I still have him. (I'm still in highschool) But I want a Dobie. I met two and they were one of the prettiest dogs I have ever seen. And friendly too. My mom thinks if I get one that its going to bite someone or something. My brother likes the bullys too. he likes bull terriers and staffies and stuff like that.
I live in a middle class family. I like sporting dogs and little old mutts. I'm planning on my next dog being a scruffy little mutt. The type of dog you'd expect to find on the streets, that many people find ugly. That's my type of dog. My dad grew up poor, but had poodles, c'ocker spaniels, and dobies (and a bunch of other breeds, those are just off the top of my head). I don't really think that it has to do with how much money your family had. It's just that some breeds are cheaper than others (in the byb market) so they're more obtainable for people with a smaller income. I think it has more to do with the type of family you grew up with. My family is rather athletic, and my parents really push me in school and sports. So I like the dogs that look like they can handle a day's worth of running, and they like to have fun and get dirty.
yea but i know yall aint gona get a real pit im talking bout a game one thats all ive had (besides a blue i rescued and took in for a couple weeks) and i know your gonna get 1 of these dogs that dont have any game in them.
and to erl poodles are fruity and some people think mutts are so ugly they're cute
and what yall dont realize is as mean as dobies seem they're really gentle.

Actually I do realize that dobies are friendly. I already said that.
erl never said that he thought that poodles were "fruity".
I'm white and I don't think that mutts are so ugly that they are cute. They are just cute (Except for those stupid designer dogs). I mean the ones where you can't tell what breed they are. Heinz 57 kind of dog.
There's a mutt that lives across the street of someone that I know, the people don't take care of her, and she has been hanging around us for about three days now. But my dad flipped out when my brother told our mom that we wanted to take her home. Because he thinks we are going to "Replace" the dog we have now or something. But I think that a lot of the time a mutt is the best dog you can have.
i didnt say erl said they were fruity i said they were and for me ive never seen a good looking mutt but then again i only like maybe 10 or 12 diffrent breeds
i dont know like what dogs go in which group or atlest not all of em but i only like pitbulls, rotts, boxers, bloodhounds, english bulldogs, great danes, boston terriers, dobermens are alrite, neapolitan mastiffs, and blue bloods even tho they aint registered
they aren't in the same group (i had typed up a long post arguing against the idea here but for some reason it didn't post it and it's lost so whatever)
I'll just say no, the dogs I like have nothing to do with my class in life. I'm middle lower class the dogs i like are working dogs middle sized to large. If i wanted a small dog i'd get a cat.
Also a properly bred rottweiler or GSD will run you 1,500 or more so I don't see how these dogs count as lower class dogs. You can get any dog from a byb breeder for less even the little dogs in fact there are more byb's and unethical breeders pushing small dogs for cheep imho than the big dogs.
