I'm currently looking for a SMALL dog breed that is best and suitable for me as being deaf ... (well, it doesn't have to be small but I'm currently living in a home where small-medium pets are allowed)

Notice: The dog is trained to respond to sounds such as alarms, car horns (when walking), baby crying, dropped keys, telephone, emergency sirens when driving, timers, and person's name being called and alert his or her deaf partner that/where these sounds have occurred. Other than that, I want my NEW dog to be playful and have fun as well! [smiles]

ANY HELP/FEEDBACK WOULD BE APPRECIATED ... THANKS!

Question:
Which breed would you recommend?

Choices:
Chihuahua (long-haired)
Chinese Crested Dog (Powder Puff)
Coton de Tulear
Dachshund
Havanese
Jack Russell Terrier
Maltese
Mi-Ki
Papillon
Pekingese
Pomeranian
Shetland Sheepdog
Shih-Tzu
OTHER: (please includde in your response)

In my opinion, you should get a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. They're very trainable, sweet, friendly dogs. They are content to sit on your lap. They don't need a lot of work. My great-grandfather had a King Charles named Harvey. He was the sweetest dog. Harvey would just sit on his lap all day. Even when great-grandpa didn't even have the energy to get out of his recliner, Harvey always stayed with him. I hope your happy with whatever breed of dog you choose.
