I could take your post no less than you caring and knowledgeable.
As for chewy chewing. I don't worry about that. I am not sure why it is a thing rotti's do but they seem to really like to do it all their lives. I have already gotten him more times than not to chew on his toys.... I buy all sorts of toys and I am always on the look out for toys for him. I will go to the pet store with no money just to check the toys to see if anything new came in. then when he needs a new one and I have the extra money I go get it for him. I feel that keeping a dog wiht new toys is important because it keeps them busy. Like people they get bored doing the same thing over and over again. I found with him he loves new toys. One day I hope to have tons of toys to trade out once a month or two.
I am not sure if I have given the impression or not about the problems I have with him. Honestly I don't really have problems a few here and there. Most of the ones I do have are time things like the chewing he just has to get it that his toys are the chew toy nothing else. he does allot of things but some of them are just fine they are not bad nor good just my being okay with it. How it fits with my family. I have the collar thing to work on today was a tough day. I might just have to use treats to keep his attention until he gets that no matter what is going on he has to pay attention to me. That is the biggest problem. The main problem. anything else is small and not a big deal and in time he will get it. I can't really work on the separation thing yet in the house because I have to have him in sight at all times. He is still learning house manners like the one I mentioned earlier and getting into the trash. But those will take time as I am not going to spend hours a day dealing withit. I just watch him and if he starts to get into it I catch him. No big deal.
Today I had to put him on the training collar because all of us went out to a park and walked and stuff. I have learned that when there is allot going on around us and then me trying to correct him he will get so confused he just ends up laying down so then I have to get him up and we start over then more comotion then repeat. So I stopped working with him on it there and just let him walk but not pull me. I have got to get his attention and keep it. He is like a toddler in a toy store try talking to them and they ignor you. That is the one big thing right now. I have not ever had this training issue in any dog before so this is new to me. All the dogs I have ever trained and practiced training with always payed attention to me and wanted to please me chewy in the house is fine follows every thing even off leash out side forget it. I have tried the few things some have mentioned but I am geting no responce from him.
anyway this is longer than I planned. Thanks Apples mom Hey can a dog get so much exercise that they loose wieght???????
thanks again. Sorry if I made you think I was having all these problems.
Actually I think I wrote that wrong. Over weight dogs can loose weight. I know that. What I ment to ask is a dog that is an okay weight but could use a few more pounds, loose weight from too much exercise? I ask because there was a post about a fat dog. It got me thinking about chewy. He is an okay weight he is healthy not to skinny but could use a few more pounds. The vet agreed with me so I don't have to worry about him gaining but today we were gone most of the day with him and he had tons of exercise and I was wondering about the exercise. At his age right now being a little slinky is common among rotti's he should start to fill out real soon and get that thicker look. Sometimes I look at him and he seems like he is skinnier and other days I am like thumbs up he is bigger.
Oh yes I do agree i have to be very careful that he doesn't get too big and not over weight at all. He is still very lean especially in the back end and his chest is very wide.
Well thank you for that info. I will relax a bit about him loosing weight.
