I just watched the tail end of a show that had Sarah as the contestant. She got a strike for guessing that the disease that Hawkings has - and when she guessed muscular dystrophy, Ben told her that she was wrong as it was Lou Gherrig's disease (something his widow is said he would not have liked - a disease named after him). Thus, as it was ALS, Sarah was wrong. Ben, you owe her some money...good thing she went on to win the game and bonus round for a hard earned $800!

ALS is not Muscular dystrophy!
Muscular dystrophy refers to a group of genetic, hereditary muscle diseases that cause progressive muscle weakness. Muscular dystrophies are characterized by progressive skeletal muscle weakness, defects in muscle proteins, and the death of muscle cells and tissue
Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) or Lou Gehrig's Disease is a progressive, usually fatal, neurodegenerative disease caused by the degeneration of motor neurons, the nerve cells in the central nervous system that control voluntary muscle movement.
