I dont quite know if this is the where im supposed to send this, but hoping if its not that it would be refered to the proper person or department. My name is Eli Ailabouni. In 1986 at the age of 16 i bought my first car, a 1972 mercedes 450sel 4 door. it was the accumulation of a lot of hard work from the age of 12 working with my dad in his neighborhood grocery store. Working with my dad created a bond i will always cherish. when i became of age and was ready for my first car he offered to help me pay for it. But because i was proud of being able to afford it from saving my money since then, i wanted him to be proud that i did it on my own, and he was. It costed me $1200.00, not much by any standard for a rusting vehicle but it ran, and i was beaming and proud. I absolutely loved my car. I was ridiculed and my car was the butt of many jokes by many of my friends, but it was unique and beautiful to me nonetheless compared to the vehicles they recieved. Some years later as i was readying for college we had approach some difficult times. My father unable to help me with college and tuition he approached me and disappointed in himself said he couldnt do it. I stopped him and saw he was pained to tell me this and i told him "dad, its ok". i proceeded to get a job and later had to sell my first car to continue school. Fast forward to December of 2000.I am married to a beautiful girl, am a semi driver, my father sold his business due to health reasons and retired on a fixed income. Somehow and someway he found my first car and bought it back for me. It touched me immensely and i nwas speechless. I dont know if he did it because of that time we spoke of college or if he knew how much the car meant to me. It was rusted, the interior remained fairly in good shape. We drove it my wife and i for over a year before the engine began leaking oil and stopped running all together. My father died, the following april after he found it for me. It now sits on the side of my garage and has been ever since. Ive been approached by the city to either get rid of it or get fined, possibly even have it towed away to a junkyard. As a truck driver i am able to provide for my wife and two kids well. Unfortunately with little left for anything else. Through much pressure from others and the city, with the exception of my wife to rid of the car i just cant bring myself to do it. Its sentimental value and the memories with my father have left me in a struggle. I know Chip mainly works with American cars, and mainly based in the south, far from my home here in Minnesota where the show takes place. So i know my chance are null. I have come to the realization that i think i want someone to have it, someone that can afford to restore it and someone that will cherish it and take care of it as i have. I want it to have a second chance at another life, not to part it out and to run for someone that will understand how much this car meant to me and will enjoy it as much as i have. If Chip or anyone from TLC/Overhaulin could find someone on their show that could that is worthy of such a car and give it its new life, please contact me.
