I have a 1967 RS that my dad bought for me when I was 14 years old. He paid $200 for it back in the mid 1970's. He and my brother worked on it & got it running, did some body work on it & painted it. I learned to drive in that car, and loved it. I "misbehaved" in it when I was 16 or so & my dad took the 327 out & replaced it with a 307 so I wouldn't be so inclined to misbehave in it again. I drove it until 1986, didn't take real good care of it during that time and the 307 got worse and worse along with the brakes, and many other parts. I was pregnant with our first child when my husband decided it was not safe enough for me to drive anymore (and we didn't have the money to do the necessary repairs). So, we parked it. And it remained parked until 1997 when we moved to Las Vegas, NV for my husband's job. It got towed back to my mom's house (my dad had passed away in 1988) to be stored in the garage (the same garage where the 327 was removed 20 years earlier) until I could come back & get it. Flashforward to 2003 when we borrowed a friend's RV, drove 2300 miles to Cape Coral FL, bought a car trailer in Ft Myers and hauled my baby back to Vegas. The 327 was strapped on the trailer in front of the car safely under a tarp and neatly tucked in by a dismantled engine hoist that had belonged to my dad. In 2004 we moved into another home with a larger piece of land room to work on it. The problem has been time and of course money. She is rusted & banged up and I know she needs all new body panels or one of those pretty new unibodys, but I cannot think about that because it is too costly. So, we are starting on things that we know we can handle. At this point, I don't care if she looks like crap, I know she will never be "worth" anything, but she means the world to me, she's a very real piece of my dad and I just want to drive her again. Thanks for inspiring me to do so, I love your show and when we get further along, I'll send pics of my 42 year old baby who has been in our family for 34 years.
