I have a truly unique request for Overhaulin'. My husband and I own a 92 Mercedes 300TE wagon. It was the first major purchase we made together. Three years ago we decided to move out of the city to the country, a move that don't regret one bit except that we can't find any Mercedes mechanics locally. To make matter worse, the shop that we used in the city has closed. The transfer case in the car has quit working, which wouldn't be a problem except that we live in Alaska. Finding used Mercedes parts here is next to impossible.
Now this lovely piece of German technology is sitting in our yard, wasting away.
If the A-Team would like a trip to Alaska, maybe take in some world class salmon fishing, or enjoy the serenity that only the 49th state can offer, and enjoy the challenge of working on a true piece of art, please let me know.
We live in Nikiski, AK, which is on the Kenai Peninsula. We are 170 road miles and 50 air miles from Anchorage. My husband works in the oilfields on Alaska's North Slope while I'm a bookkeeper at the local senior center. The Mercedes was our regular driver until it started having mechanical problems. Plus I needed a car with more cargo space. Then it became the loaner for friends in need of transportation, which my husband would do. Now this loyal piece of machinery is yard art, and I know my husband would love to once again be able to drive this car during his time off from work.
