Question:
I have read some of the boards, and apparently a lot of people want more Jeff instead of Irwin. I like Steve and all, but every episode is just about the same Roll Eyes. Wrestle a few crocs, release them into the wild, rescue a mammal or snake, and then he is done. With Jeff, it is a completely different story. It's a new country and animal every day Smile. It is not that I want Jeff Corwin to be shown as often as the Croc hunter, I am just saying that he should be shown more than just about two times a week. If they showed Jeff as often as Irwin, then everyone would get sick of him.

Choices:
i agree
huh?
no, you are entirely wrong
there are 2 sides to every story

Mr. Irwin and Jeff Corwin are two different people with two different ways of bringing the message of Conservation to the world as best they can.

As for me, I could watch Jeff Corwin every day and never become tired of doing so. I couldn't say the same for Mr. Irwin at all.

Thanks for asking.

Well personally I don't think it's our place to say that his stuff is boring... I mean like you said free_animal(s), Jeff and Steve have 2 entirley different ways of dealing with animals. I guess that everyone has their own opinion though.

Steve Irwin has a new show coming up that's going to be completely different from his previous shows. It's reportedly called, "New Breed of Vet."

I think the biggest problem is that Animal Planet has played Steve Irwin's shows to death. We see the same shows repeated ad nauseum. There are so many repeats that, to the average viewer, all the episodes start looking the same. I'm a huge Steve Irwin fan and even I've stopped watching because I've seen them all two or three times -- sometimes more.

So, as a Croc Hunter fan, take it from me that you do not want Jeff Corwin aired more often. Trust me. It'll turn something you love into something you roll your eyes at when you see it.

I agree with Spyder31. If they did a show with Jeff, Steve and possibly Austin(stevins) it would be the new AP viewers fave! I mean it would be liked be fans of Jeff Steve and Austin so it would make everyone happy.. Too bad they won't do it for a while... Frown

Neither Irwin nor Jeff would allow their egos to clash on a show they both lay claim to fame on. Plus, I don't see any value added. But your whole idea lost any merit when you threw Austin Stevens in the equation. Talk about tainting the pot with poison...

Although I'm not crazy over Austin Stevens, but he does bring another angle of Conservation. Both Steve and Jeff do different perspectives and angles on Conservation that I find much more appealing. The formats they use are very educational and mixed with humour throughout the shows.

Everyone has their opinions on any shows that are on 'Animal Planet'.

Cheers.

ronnie-

I don't blame you. I like both of them as well. I would even want to go to Australia just to meet Steve. You are right, they both have different ways of teaching about conservancy, and I support Steve in his ways of teaching but my position stands. I just beleive that Steve is not as fantasic. I am not saying that Steve is bad at all, I think he is very good, but I think he does the same thing a lot of times. Maybe it's because I have seen practically all of his episodes.hehehehe Smile

Well folks both of the men are unique and each has his own way of educating all of us about the world we all share and live in. As long as we all can learn from Jeff & Steve and share their joy and passion from each of them, then their goal has been achieved.

You make a very good point. I like your statement and I thought your comment was very educated. Wink You are right, they both have different ways of educating and conserving wildlife. Nicely done. I just watched one of his episodes an hour ago, and I have come to appreciate Steve and realized that what I said was a little harsh. He is a great educator. Thank you. Big Grin

I personally think that Jeff is a 10 while Steve is only an 8. They are both very good educators, they just do things differently. So I enjoy watching both of them on tv.

Well the crocodile hunter is pretty much all about Conservation, and Jeff likes to tell about the animals of the world, but Steve Irwin mainly from what i see, Talks about his reptiles at his zoo and I want to see more Wildlife from the jungle, To the African plains, and All over. Jeff From what I also see, does a combonation of pretty much all animals in the world and does a pretty good job of it. But I would have to say Jeff Corwin Duhhh!! While Steve takes things seriously while Jeff Likes to crack a joke once in awhile. But Steve Irwin is too Hyper when it comes to some of the animals he likes Smile.

Have you ever seen the comercial demos on tv
where this guy is trying to sell Kitchen stuff
and different things? How he flails his arms all around and while hes talking so fast he
sprays spit all over the place? That is what Steve reminds me of when he gets exited(hyper).
He is a card! It seems for Steve its natural and Jeff's seems to be a little rehearst. I do think both of them are good at what they do and
are mature enough to put on a show together and
bring a lot of humor and education. If they were both the same it would be dull and blah.
I give them both a 10, and as for Austin, I don't know a lot about him, I like to determine that on my own. But he is a fine specimen of
a man! Roll Eyes Well? I believe any one can work with any one if their goal is to bring obout Love and humor and education, concerning
what keeps us in awe and wonder of our wild life! Our Beautiful and Magical Wild Life!
I love em all! Piddle

I think both men have done a lot to bring certain animals (namely reptiles) to a new light where they are more respected and less hated even if to many they are still feared. There is no contest though. Hands down, Jeff Corwin is a better handler and does his show boating and theatrics without endangering the animals, himself or bystanders as much as reasonably possible. For that he has all of my respect. The other TV snake wranglers all fall very short in this respect. It always cracks me up when Austin Stevens goes on and on about being all alone in the middle of nowhere, yet the camera is panning around. umm...who's manning the camera if he's so all alone out there? lol. Sometimes, I think he's probably filming staged scenes behind the dumpsters at his hotel "shrug" Swinging on a vine to dive off on top of a snake swimming in the water isn't cool. Snakes are more fragile than you might think. I'm more impressed with Jeff's style of safe and gentle handling than any tarzan move. Plus, we all have DVD players. If we want to watch Tarzan, we can watch Tarzan! I say more Jeff please and a lot less of everyone else!

I definitly agree with the fact that the action/Tarzan behavior is a bit on the edge and kind of funny really, Roll Eyes but some people are not so much into the documentary and the more subtle and gentle ways of a naturalists. So I think AP has tried to being all sorts of docents for their animal naturalists. Some love ation and in your fact type of shows. I personally appreciate all the kind of information I can get. And ofcourse Jeff is number one in my book always. I love his humor, knowledge, looks, methods and overall he is a 10 to me. Wink

What I love about these two is that they are apples and orages. There's definately room for both.

Steve Irwin is a great guy. I thought at first that the show was going to be a sensationalized type of entertainment show, but I am so happy that it's not. Steve deserves big kudos.

Jeff is different. He covers a wide range and enjoys the biologist commentary. He's out there to show us the corners of the earth.

They are both great. I hope they both stick around for a long time.

Well, to be honest, I kinda don't like Steve at all.

Yeah, they're different but they're working for the same goals.

The thing is, if you watch Steve carefully, you'd see that he stresses the animals he's handling... especially the crocs. There was one episode that the croc's mouth bled by its mouth because Steve wouldn't jump in when he needed to and kept putting ropes around the jaws instead. The poor animal kept turning (as its defense) until it was too tired to do so. Then Steve (as always!) grabbed on and put his weight all over the place. We felt for the poor guy (the croc, I mean).

but... yeah... I think Jeff should limit his exposure... Although I wish I could see him more often. I guess it's part of all the suspense.

Anyway, both deserve our respect.

Jeff, you are the man!!! And I love you!!!
