Hey troopers; Sunday 21 Jan 07 watching "Future weapons". You'll be happy to know one of the reasons the .50 Barrett is superior to sniper rifles is... "it takes 15 to 20 seconds to chamber a round in the bolt action rifle". Not discounting the value of the Barrett but how damn ridiculous to make an inane statement as that.Until MC starts hiring staff that have served I guess we're stuck with it.

An average? It does NOT take that long to chamber a round in the Barrett.

I have used plenty of bolt action rifles, and it does NOT evn take 10 seconds to chamber a round, so if it take 15 to 20 seconds for anyone in the military to chamber a round then that means they must have never used a bolt action before, or they just don't want to fight using that particular rifle.

Barrett rifle is a POS compared to the Accuracy International. Semi-Auto version makes your ears ring from the recoil spring and the magazines fall apart. Bolt action version recoil is so heavy that you have to adjust your position to observe the target once you shoot. We used to sand bag the bi-pod legs (made from M-60 Bi-pod, totally inappropriate for smiping)when conducting demonstrations at Ft. Benning 1999-2000. I commanded C/2-29 from March-December 1999. US Army Sniper School was one of my Platoons.
