The shows about the Eighth Air Force and its exploits in Europe are fascinating as are the programs about the B-17, but there is an aspect that has not been covered. While most of the aircrews that were shot down were either killed or captured less than 200 were evadees. They managed to escape to Switzerland or Spain. My dad was shot down near the Ardennes Forest in NE France and walked 600km to escape to Switzerland. These men have an amazing story of courage, stamina, and cunning to tell and it would be fascinating to see it on TV, before they are gone and their stories lost forever. There is an Air Force Escapee/Evadee Society that could probably shed more light on what these brave men did.
