Hello everyone, Ive got a quick question I was hoping I could get answered here. I recently had a hip replacement, I am only 18. Before having the hip replacement I was rejected by all branches of the military. Now that I have this new hip, am i eligible for enlistment, or am I going to have to go to a Recruiter to get this answered. I kind of think I got on the Marine Recruiter's nerves because I kept calling back so I could enlist. Ever since I was little, I felt an obligation to serve our great country and am very upset that I am told I can't. So does anyone know if people with hip replacements allowed to join the military. Funny thing is Ill be joining ROTC this year in college, but I can only do it for 2 years without obliging to military.

texan648, there are waivers for most everything in the military. I don't know about your situation but, there are more recruiters than just the Marines. It's their job to work FOR you, put them to work. Even if you can't get in there are many other positions out there that would be serving our great country, that I'm sure would give you a feeling of pride and accomplishment. Best of luck.

Son I just read your comment. As for you wanting to serve our country that is awesome. As a recruiter I can tell you that at this point no branch of military service will let you enlist with a hip replacement. But dont let that get you down, there are many people out there that are qualified to enlist and don't have a fraction of the patriotism that you have. Our country is constantly facing different challenges in which they change the enlistment criteria. Maybe your situation will change also. But as a recruiter and a soldier I have one thing to ask of you, continue to let the world know how much you love your country as this is a great tool in defending it.

Texan 648,

YOu are a great guy. your attitude is awesome. there are other jobs involving the military that aren't in the military. designing or building equipment, testing stuff. there is a lot you can do to serve your country. be a politican. it would be nice to have politicans with your attitude. good luck.

Hey all, it's been a little over a year since I posted this and I am glad to see there have been more responses. I have started college and have joined many groups and clubs that let other students know about the military and its soldiers. I would still love to join the military, I cannot think of anything more satisfying. I will continue to do everything I can to support our country. I am hopeful that when I graduate college, the military will have changed its enlistment standards, as ssgrey said is a possibility. I would love to go through OCS and PLC and become an officer. I know that its a far fetched dream, but I remain hopeful. I will be going into the marketing field and would love to do advertising work for the US Military. Anyways, thanks for the support.
