I hope someone out there can help me.
My Uncle served in Vietnam, flying the AH-1 Cobra for 2 tours. I want to make a series of boards/picture frames for his study (known as the "War Room")
I first thought that he served with the 1st Air Cav, but someone corrected me and says the proper name is 1st Cav (Airmobile). Either way, I can't find a patch or emblem for either, or what the proper name for it would be.
The only "trophy" I recall was a baseball cap. It showed the front view of a Cobra and was inscribed AH-1G Cobra above and Vietnam under. I'm thinking this might have been something specially ordered through a Vet organization, as I haven't seen one of these either. I have tons of catalogues and a list of favorite websites, but nada.
My Aunt, who he was married to at that time, has passed away, and my current one is no help. I could just ask him, but I don't want to spoil the surprise. Now if I could just B & E his house and get into that old footlocker up in his attic.........
