On Thursday after losing power (The big northwest wind storm) we found out after a mouth of being told we where going to be on the show and they where too start filming on Monday, that Discovery and hospital had not got all the Legal stuff resolved meaning that Discovery was not going to film us. Which I was ok with, but I had to tell my 7 year old daughter two weeks before her surgery. She was so looking forward to it she had been for a month telling all her friends about it, we have been planning a Christmas party for them to film her interacting with her friends and some more things where planed. And when I told her she burst into tears and sad to me “Daddy I lied to my friends do I have to have the party”!! What do you say back to that? We spent the next hour explaining to her we did not lie to her and she did not lie to her friends. We thought when we singed all the waivers it was a done deal and we where going to be on the show. It kills me that Discovery can just say sorry and move on to the next family. This might be the biggest surgery she goes thought and the one thing her conusler said is to keep her stress level down. It saddens me that a show which is there to show off brilliant surgeons and how they help there patients can hurt one so bad and not seem to care. I like Discovery and have been enjoying it for a long time. We also have been watching this show and me and my daughter has been glued to it now she dose not want to watch it. I hope she will change her mind some day and put it behind her but I think she needs to get the surgery behind her first. So please take out of this one thing, if you are asked to do this show make sure you don’t tell your kid(s) unless you have checked out all the details ahead of time because it can be very hard on your kid(s). Sorry for how bad this is wrote, I am not much of a writer.
Oh ah, we did get are power back after 52 hours.

I am sorry to hear about your experience. I don't believe the production staff actually works for the dicovery channel per se. I believe they are hired to do the show. I do hope she continues to watch and get strength from tthe other stories to recover I do hope your daughter enjoys her Christmas and I will keep her in my thoughts and prayers for her surgery.
