I'm so excited about Flower's upcoming movie!
I'm just hopeful that when I show up at the theater with my supply of Kleenex, that there will be others there too who truly understand.
I wish we all here, who have shared our feelings of loss and wonder for our beloved Flower, could find one theater to watch and remember and laugh and cry together.
I honestly have no one here within my "personal realm" with whom to go to the movie who feels what we feel. My family will come with me, I'm sure, but they won't understand like the family I've found here with you all. I'm sort of dreading it as much as I'm looking forward to it.
Anyone out there live close to Western Massachusetts and want to go to Flower's movie with me when the time comes??
sigh
My niece knows me as Auntie Meerkat (aka: Diane, in Massachusetts, USA)

I would love to see the movie with a MM friend! However, I'm in Iowa and don't get out much...

I would love to go with you to see Flower's movie but I am across the states in Sacramento California. I am so thankful for this forum. It is nice to know that these brave little creatures have touched so many hearts. And our Flower was a role model for all of us. She was brave, smart, wild, caring and free.

AuntieMeerkat, just reading your letter made me cry all over again. I'm alone at my office right now (it's after 7:30pm) and I had to login to see how everyone is doing. I wish I could go with you too but I live in New Jersey. There isn't anybody here for me to go with either, none of my friends or family understand. My husband was so upset by Flower's death that he won't watch the show anymore. He doesn't even want to hear me talk about it, much less see the movie. I guess we can take comfort in knowing that just about everyone who does go to see the movie will already know Flower and will probably be crying right along with each other anyway.

Auntiemeerkat, come here to North Carolina! I'm here without family or meerkat lovin' friends, too. Bet if you ask around, there'll be someone close; I was so surprised by the number of people I knew that were upset but afraid to show it. They opened up when I mentioned it to them

mitch4me ~ I guess California and Massachusetts are closer together than either of us are to the Kalahari! I actually moved out here from San Francisco to take care of my Grandparents.
Flower has brought us all together despite the miles.
maryccarroll~ I understand about checking in with everyone from work. I'm at home now, but do check in from my desk at the office too. I can't get through my day without you all.
Movie theaters should set aside special seats for those who knew Flower before the movie, so we can all cry (and smile) together!

Hey, auntiemeerkat! If I lived near Massachusetts, I would definitely go with you, too! It would be so fun to watch the movie with burrowmates that love the meerkats just as much as I do! It's so incredible how many people have been brought together through the love of MM and meerkats! Awesome.

auntiemeerkat, am here in southern Connecticut, and anxiously awaiting the movie release. Looks like I will be seeing it by myself as my neighbor couldn't watch the end of the episode where Flower died, and again turned it off last Friday 'cause she thought Mozart was going to die right after Kinkaju. Its OK though, I'll have my tissues, and the tears will fall. I won't miss seeing the tribute to our Flower!!

I am looking on the GoogolMeHere.com site for other MM fans that are in my area. Flower has over 50 FRIENDS there and MOZART will probably have more. When the Movie comes out, I hope we can all get together and see it. It will ease some of the pain when you have a fellow MM fan next to you. as THEY GET IT!!!! I am in South Florida.

Hi Auntiemeerkat I did not think there was anyone out there like me. Sometimes people seem so emotionless. I am glad I found some people who think like I do!! I am happy to meet all these caring people. I only wish we could all meet in person. I live in Pa and probably will take my grandaughter with me to see the movie. She loves the meerkats too.

Hey Patti! I live in PA also. Northeastern, PA. I probably will end up going myself. I think it would be wonderful if all of us could go together. We could laugh and cry with each other.

Hi Pattysal1--I am in PA also, and also grateful for this forum. I think that we have all helped one another in this grieving process. As sad as this is, how much more sad would it be if no one cared about animals at all.

My goodness! Thank you ALL for this outpouring of understanding. And, massmeerkat!!!!!!! I've been wondering, from the name you've selected, if you were in fact living in Massachusetts! Yeah!! I'm in the Berkshires, and so it's entirely within the realm of possibility that we could go to see our beloved Flower on the silver screen together! I hope others will find similar connections here too and so can share the Kleenex.

Oh gjkat!!!! I went to the Indianapolis Zoo about this time last year and met the Meerkats there! Have you? It's a pretty great habitat they have there. I spent the whole visit with the little guys, and my family came back for me when they were ready to call it a day.

Auntiemeekat, Yes, I have seen the Meerkat exhibit !! It is wonderful. I took my mother (who got me started watching MM)for mother's day and I know we spent a good hour there. What amazed me is that you see them on t.v. and read about their height and weight and still they looked very small to me !! They are adorable ! My mother and I wanted to crawl in the exhibit with them.. If you come back to Indy and let me know, we can meet up at the zoo !!! God Bless Meerkat Lovers !!

There's so much friendship here in the burrow, it's wonderful! dmoo - I'm in Winston Salem. It would be cool to try and do a NC meetup for the movie. That way we could all cry together!

Auntie Meerkat(and anyone else in the Massachusetts area), I'd love to get together to see Flower's movie. I think the more people, the better. It's going to be a tear jearker~just knowing that she is no longer with us.

I was very devistated when flower died. she was my second favorite. Who'd expect a 46 year old man to cry over a meerkat. I did and now I am, again, just thinking about that finale episode with Flower. She is greatly missed by me. I relate most with Mozart, the underdog who keeps coming through a bad situation. I live in Fergus Falls, Minnesota and I can't afford to travel any farther than Fargo, North Dakota. So, If there's anyone from the upper midwest who needs a movie-going buddy, I would like to be there for ya. It sure is an empty feeling when one doesn't have another to share in a loss. The chat that night after the episode when Flower died helped, once I found it. I called it The Flower Wake.

Auntie Meerkat and all the other Meerkats here: I'm new to these forums although I've been with MM since the first. I'm a 53 y/o woman from Alabama and I tell you I still haven't gotten over Flower's death and now sweet sweet Mozart, I don't know how much more I can stand.
I hope I can join ya'lls burrow! I would love to see Flower's tribute movie with other meerkats, most folks here think I'm totally nuts and just tell me to quit watching it cause it affects me so much. No way. I'm totally MM addicted.
I do pray next season will bring some happiness to our precious babies in the Kalahari, they sure do deserve, especially dear Zaphod and Wilson. I could tell poor Wilson was really devasted when he found Mozart's body. OMG I thought I'd just die.
Anyway...if the weather is good, in the morning hubby and I are going to Atlanta's zoo cause they have meerkats. We are practicing our photography cause in 17 days we are taking our 25th anniversary trip to Churchill Manitoba to spend 8 days photographing polar bears, my BIG passion. People think I'm really crazy cause I'd love to hug one. I'm passionate about them, not stupid. Yes, I know I go from the largest land carnivore to one of the tiniest.... oh well.
Nice to meet ya'll. Gotta go blow my nose and dry my eyes.
Sleep soundly, sweet Mozart. I love you.

So here I sit, typing through the tears yet again... does anyone know if Mozart will be in the movie too? I've cried episodes of tears for this poor little baby, and I actually find myself feeling a certain sense of comfort in knowing she's with Flower now and forever, and her life of such tremendous hardship has been replaced with belonging and light.
massmeerkat ~ It's a date for SURE. We'll have to figure out what theater is either in between, or.... I'm always happy to hit The Christmas Tree Shop when I'm in the Holyoke area!
Rest in Peace our beautiful Kalahari Rose and precious Kalahari Rosebud With love eternally ~ your true friend ~ Auntiemeerkat
