How sad that the "iron lady" of the Kalihari is now watching over her brood from above. I have been saddened by her passing, and have cried like I lost a member of MY OWN family. And, I guess in a way, I have. Flower was like one of my own beloved pets. She was a formidable little Meerkat; and, although I often would get upset with how she picked on poor little Mozart, I understood that this was real life in her land, and she was the Queen. Flower was loved by her family, and they must be feeling a large loss as well. We do not know how animals react to the death of their loved ones, but if Mozarts tears in her eyes while laying in the sand next to her dead pup's paw is an indication, I can only imagine what poor Zaphod and the rest of the Whisker's are feeling since Flower's death. When she and the Whiskers were separated from each other, I had hoped that she would reunite her little group with the rest of the Whiskers, and when that happened I cheered! Only to then be saddened by her untimely death at the fangs of that deadly cobra. Flower died as she lived; strong and unrelenting in her protection of her pups and the rest of her family. Long live Flower, Queen of the Meerkats! RIP, my little friend 2000-2007
