bounding into our homes
came this mighty little force
what the heck is that creature?
but a meerkat, of course!

this strange looking critter
standing up tall
watching over her family
the big and the small.

racing through the desert
a mission at hand
tumbling with the enemy
to safeguard their land.

then to cuddling babies
and tending to her mate
what is it that makes
this meerkat so great?

as i watched week to week
i soon understood
could there possibly be
another leader this good?

i found myself anticipating
the next episode
then season one was over
where did time go?

season two came
and i grew more amazed
that the wisdom she had,
had us all stunned and dazed.


sometimes i was angry
at how she treated her daughters
but all she was doing
was protecting the others.

at the close of the season
it was to be a long winter
then came january, and the news
that made my heart splinter.

kelly gave us the news
it was such disbelief
that shattered my life
and filled me with grief.

searching the forum
i thought it was a mistake
but post after post confirmed
what i couldn't take.

please god,let this be
just a horrible dream
let me wake up
i can't stand what i've seen!

but reality sank in
and we all fell apart
the love started pouring
from everyone's hearts.

we all waited with dread
the start of season three
knowing what was to come
the depression blanketed me.

september 28,2007
came even nearer
facing the inevitable
became even clearer.

that night as i sat
alone, crying and watching
pictures of my heroine
suffering and dying.

in a stupor, i found myself
in front of my PC
watching the eruption
the forum went crazy.

as an act of love
we all went to the zoo
to meet other meerkats,
that was really hard to do.

but still to this day
it's hard to take in
just how very unreal
this last year has been.

so the legacy lives on
and in her offspring the power
but nothing can compare
to the greatness that was
flower.

I have tears in my eyes; that is such a awesome poem. God, I miss her so. There is an emptiness when I think of Meerkat Manor. What is keeping it together for me is that Zaphod is still around. What is it going to be like next season?

Not exactly sure who sings that, kescha. I wish I did.
