For about 15 years I've had adult acne & begining in October of 2005 something changed.

All acne wounds past & present mutated into something else. It's no longer acne that's for sure.

I sought help thru various doctors, often that only did visual examinations & sent me with prescription anti biotics.

First diagnosis was folliculitis. Then staph infection.

After anti biotics really had no affect & tetracycline made the wounds worse & extremely crusty I then went to local emergency room. Again thru visual exam they sent me off with different anti- biotics. And again no relief.

Then one day a coworker made fun of me saying I had scabies... so I went back to emergency room & asked doctor if thats a possibility. Using a black light magnifier scanner she felt My skin was infested with something of the sorts. She prescribed me emilite cream & orders to throughly clean house, bedding & all clothing.

After several Emilite treatments & undaunting attempts to clean my environment, my skin improved greatly.

I went back on occasion hoping for more tests & finally one time they took blood. They determined I was HIV & hepatitus A,B,C negative, most my levels were normal except my white blood count was kinda low & lipase enzymes were high so they scheduled me for CT abdomen scan suspecting acute pancreatitus. That scan showed normal so then again I had no answers.

Being I still had trouble areas I went back to doctors demanding more thorough testing. As to if parasites remained on me... secondary infections in skin &/or blood... or if possible something internally is causing this issue.

to my disappointment they only took some blood & a swab sample from an oozin wound. Sending me home to wait for weeks for results of bacteria testing & standard blood testing.

meanwhile the condition respreads just as before & I decided to search internet for various skin conditions. Of the seemingly hundreds of possibilities. Symptoms, pictures & such fit a range of conditions.

Scabies, Excema, Celiac disease, mastocytosis, Morgellons disease, impetigo, Dermatitis Herpetiformis, MRSA staph infections, among a few others. Even possibly internal parasites or toxics in my bloodstream

As its been 16+ months now, noone has provided proof to me of type of staph bacteria present ( even stating that staph exists everywhere anyways) no photos or physical tests showing parasites. No tests such as biopsy's or methods to diagnosis any of the conditions I listed. It's to point my friends was telling me to get a lawyer because I'll be paying thousands in hospital & doctor bills mostly for no proper testing, diagnosis or treatment (except the emilite).

Even the most noted dermotologist chastized my efforts using home skin remedies & said she didn't know what was wrong ... But wouldn't even do any tests. She told me go elsewhere & referred my to a psychiatrist when I got upset about it. I owe for that visit like $350 & she didn't do anything!

I know it was or is contagious because one of my coworkers got it when I was at near worst stage of this. one treatment of emilite cured his moderate condition. 90% of my skin was devasted at that time.

Each day it spreads on me again now. With most support exhausted. It's draining me mentally for sure as I can't go thru it again if it's just gonna devastate me like before.

If I could i would throw out everything I own & move away just to know my environment not doing this, but can't afford to even. If knew for sure was no parasites I'd stop my obssessive cleaning. If even knew it was an uncureable disease atleast I could live knowing what it was.

Watching mystery diagnosis made me post this. I want a diagnosis! am desparate to solve this mystery.

my symptoms

started with single sty like structure on hand around october of 2005. by christmas most of my body was affected

in early stages, any past wounds reopened & shows signs of condition.
especially areas of adult acne, deep cuts or needle points
minor itching. usually a sudden sting feeling like mosquito bite at location of new marking

some itching at dried ,dead skin rubs surrounding skin as well

condtion seem to eliminate & replace acne. Now have virtually no signs of acne

pimple like structure across entire body, concentrated or
reocurring mostly on shoulders, behind ears & lower spine


core contains usually white pus, blood or crystalline type object.
scabs form sometimes with this whiteish deep penetrating dead skin causing irritation
occasional boils & impetigo type symptoms
hard irritating blackheads & crusting top layer of skin

sometimes an obvious core mark appears within wound. other times skin thickens or becomes dry red & very hard

If leave markings alone they multiple & spread across region. skin thickens, become red & irritated
If attempt to clean wounds often grow larger & show signs of infection

clothing tag sensitivity. Marks rapidly form if in contact with tags

buildup at pinches of eyelids multiple times during day. new marks sometimes form near

same in ears & nose. most anywhere on body marks have formed except on soles of feet & hands.
hardly any marks have formed on top of feet

sometimes severe gastrological disfunction. Gas attacks & ulcer type symptoms. Can only sleep one way or my stomach goes crazy. Eating helps but shortly later begins again. sometimes am ok for days . other times its all day occurrence for days on end.

medications tried & affects - *** only meds listed have has positive results ***

12/30/05 clotrimazole 10 mg troche 5 times a day for 10 days - some affect on toungue buildup.

12/30/05 erythomycin 500 mg 4 a day for 7 days - little or no affect
permethryn - has had most affect on condition & skin heals rapidly during this treatment

01/28/06 & 01/26/07 smz/tmp ds tab 2 a day for 10 days- little or no affect

02/10/06 tetracycline 500 mg 2 a day for only few days but stopped due to adverse affect - made condition worse in that huge yellow crusts formed

02/28/06, 05/05/06 & 06/07/06 cephalexin 500 mg 4 a day for 7 days - multiple full doasges & no affect

04/12/06 & 06/07/06 hydroxyzine HCL 25 mg 4 a day for 8 days - little or no affect

04/12/06, 04/19/06, 05/12/06, 05/26/06, 12/19/06 & 12/26/06 *** Permethrin 5% cream 1 day treatment - has had most affect of all medications to date & has cured more of my ailment overall then any other treatment

04/12/06 Rantitidine 150 mg 2 a day for 15 days

04/12/06 clindamycin 150 mg 4 a day for 10 days

05/05/06 05/26/06 lindane lotion 1% - little or no affect. seizure side affect on 2nd dosage

06/07/06 mthylprednisolone 4mg dskpk 6 day pack - steroid did alleviate symptom irritation & compensated for fatigue but no affect on condition

06/07/06 & 01/26/07 * mupirocin 2% ointment- did help condtion & aides wounds healing
but only prescribed one small tube at time condition was covering most of skin. 1oz when possibly needed 20oz

06/24/06 Clobetasol propionate topical scalp solutiom 0.005% - little or no affect

06/24/06 erythromycin/Benzoyl Peroxide topical treatment - little or no affect

01/26/07 Nystatin Oral Suspension 250 m L

* hydrogen peroxide - foams continuously as use
but tends to spread condition to surrounding skin

Triclosan - little or no affect

dead sea salt - no affect

vinegar soaks - little or no affect but does make cleaning wounds more helpful

rubbing alcohol - does soothe irritaion but little or no affect on condition
& once skin dries irritation returns

triple antibiotic ointment - little or no affect

anti-dandruff & psryosis shampoos w/ selenium sulfide or coal tar - little or no affect

other variables that have affected condition

caffeine & some foods make condition accelerate
bathing soothes condition but also spreads it
sleeping slows growth
stress & high activity speed growth
summersunlight seemed to help condition somewhat but have been able to get regular exposure
swimming in chlorinated pool helped somehwhat but also unable to get regular exposure

tests performed

04/12/06 fulmer viewer scan - parasites detected when condition at it's worst

06/07/06 blood
HIV test - negative
Hepititus a,b,c test - negative
white blood cell count - very low
staph bacteria detected

06/24/06 Skin scraping - bacteria present

07/01/06 Abdomen CT scan - normal. no pancreatitus as was suspected

no other tests prior or since. all other treatments were given after visual examinations only

After getting a stomach virus this past weekend I took my daily normal bath treatment &
placed few drops of tea tree oil into bath. genital area & buttocks became painful, red & stingy for hours.

have placed tea tree oil in bath before without this affect.

It's definately not a rash type condition. It rarely itches. I feel no need to scratch. It irritates to point i'm forced to clean out skin deep to core of affected areas or it becomes more & more painful & irritating. As if it turns the area of skin into a foreign object lodged deep into my skin.

If all other tests don't confirm existence of any of the listed conditions theres only 2 other possiblities i can fathom.
1. I have 3 broken ,deterioating teeth & once heard roots can send toxins into bloodstream causing infections. dunno if that can be tested for.
OR 2. it's some sort of radiation type poisoning which would mean something in my room is causing this. As none of my family show symptoms & I isolate myself entirely in fear they will catch this.

IF it is scabies i must add that I have washed everything I own hundreds of times over. using hot war washes & high heat drying. using even harsh chemicals & insecticides on objects i'm not in direct contact with or can't wash in machine. i often use anti bacterial cleansers on my keyboard & things I touch. My bed & chair are wrapped in plastic sheeting. I have even microwaved clothing I wear after washing. Maybe severe or extreme to do so but anything to not have more outbreaks, to be sure i'm not reinfecting myself. All of this I have only done since the fulmer viewer scan showing mass infestation on me, when my condition was at it's worst. As my condition is much better now only after many treatments. but remaining signs of condition are respreading. random outbreaks occur on healed areas. it's most frustrating.

The meds you mentioned that work are meds used for
Body lice , heade lice, bed bugs ,ect.... I am sorry I do not have any idea. How long has this been happening exactly?
I was wondering if it could possibly be the flesh eating virus?

15 months & going.

Had more blood tests done & samples from nose & a couple wounds...

Was no help really. Bacteria was determined not to be the flesh eating kind or MRSA.

Only theory doctor gave me was that if it was scabies or some parasite , maybe because my skin was so infestated & damaged that it will take a long time for my skin to normalize.

Basically that microscopic amounts of the mites, it's feces, eggs ect are trapped in my blood, skin & in most of my clothing worn this past year. Being my skin is highly reactive to it, it may be causing the symptoms I have now.

doctor said if true it's best to stop all treatments ( home or prescribed ) get a few sets of new clothing to wear for time being & use gentle cleansers when bathing. And not to aggravate or clean out wounds.

Then she scheduled me with a dermotologist in a month to re-evaluate my skin then.

She also told me to limit my diet & try indoor tanning on a test basis to see if any improvement.

basically i see it like this now. Permethryn has been the only affective treatment regardless of what it may be or have been.
Areas that fully healed are sporadically showing new symptoms of reaction.

So if in month it definately respreads across body I will insist on another permethryn treatment until they can prove it's not an active parasite or some proof of what it actually is.

I can't go through it again. Far from a rash it becomes painful & embarassing to be seen.

The mystery continues. .. for now

Sorry to hear what you r going through. Do you have any kind of pet at home? Could this be something you picked up from the work area? I had scabies 30 yrs ago but nothing like u described. Have you been checked for Discoid Lupus? Trichinosis? Don't give up...I have an eye impairment and had to go through 13 doctors before I got relief...suffered with severe eye pain for a YEAR before I got correct pain mgmt.Have you also been checked for worms? we have a cat but it shows no symptoms of anything on it's skin. plan to get a pet lice treatment anyways to eliminate that possiblity.

Have researched various sites on net only to find hundreds of types of skin conditions. a dozen or so fit symptoms descriptions to some extent. Problem I'm having is getting doctors to get proper testing dones on me for those various conditions. How do they test for worms or other parasites?

doctor had told me to just let it be until the dermotologist she referred me to sees me, but now i find that unacceptable. Don't know if permeythryn is the answer but nothing else they have given me has worked as well. Even read in severe scabies cases that weekly regiments of permethyrn 5% until it's completely gone was the solution. That I haven't been able to get. only a few weeks in row at tops. which got me to about 90%. then same struggle to get more just like now. as I watch it respread & consume my skin again.

Hi! Testing for worms can be done with blood tests, biopsies of your sites. I will make an educated guess that perhaps you may have trichinosis from infected pork that wasn't cooked correctly. Trichinosis can be dormant for many years and then show itself. Try an infectios disease doctor. I hope this info helps. Maria. (Have you ever traveled outside of the USA?)

So I tried my way on one side of my body. Left other side to show how I'm fighting a battle against savagely destroyed skin & irritation. They can biopsy both sides I dont care I just want real answers.

I saw medical disease listing. their are hundreds. This is just an uncommon one obviously so if I can't get answers soon I'll do it my way until I can.

Hi again! I watched Montel Williams Show on 2/20/07 witch had a woman with a skin rash that then developed like what you describe that went undiagnosed for a time. She found a doc who called it something that sounded like Fenegin's (something) Disease.I don't really know the spelling.This woman started a camp for kids with rare skin diseases and she gave a site,CSDF.org where maybe you can contact her and find out the correct name of her skin prob. It just appeared when she was a teen and she showed outward s/s of it for 3 years. Antibiotics made it worse. Or you could go to montelwilliams.com and find some info of that show. thanks alot. symptoms do match that pemphigus disease abit. treatments for it seem very vague thou as steroids had no affect on me really.

But it is yet another that fits my mystery possiblity & requires a biopsy to diagnose it.

Just hope i can get a biopsy & results before it spreads up my face again.

You have so many of the same symptoms as I had with dermatitis herpetiformis and Celiac disease. At one time in my life I was ashamed to wear short sleeve shirts or even shorts. I had people say it looked like scabies but it wasnt. After the birth of my daughter this disease covered my whole body and I had never been so miserable in my life. I was lucky to find a doc that studied DH for the government many years ago and he knew exactly what it was when he looked at it. He did a biopsy to confirm and sure enough dermititis herpetiformis. I now take Dapsone everyday of my life and have no outbreaks. I looked like a person with leporsy...I would have stingy spots before they would appear and then blisters would manifest and eventually crust and just make nasty places...I hope you get a diagnosis because I know how miserable it can be with a skin condition especially one that no one has ever heard of.

To rule out Chloracne (named for the chlordane acne by persons exposed to Kepone) What do you do for a living? Do you live in an area where there is heavy use, or perhaps manufacture of herbicides, or maybe pesticides?

It's a little out in left field, but if you have exposure to said chemicals, a possibility... Chloracne would look like what you describe.
