I saw that one too, but can't remember what it's called. All I remember is that the twins were treated with L-Dopa. I did a search online and the only condition I found was Parkinson's. Sorry.

Segawa's Dystonia was the condition that Dr. Fink wrote about in the medical journal that the mother of the twins read. The pill helped increase the production of Dopamine in the brain. Smile

Would anyone know where or how to reach Dr. Fink? I believe they referenced Minneapolis during the show - but I can't find him on the internet.

Thanks.

Hello:

I found out I had DRD from a magazine article on the Beery twins. I am a friend of their mother, Retta Beery. She helped save my life. Her website is www.thebeerys.com If you go to her website and click inspiring life stories then click the link under the pargraph about Noah and Alexis you will be taken to another screen. Read what Retta wrote then click on the link at the bottom and you can watch a video of the children. You can go to her messageboard and leave a message (if you do tell her Mary Cate sent you) or e-mail me your contact information and I will e-mail it to Retta for you and I will call her to contact you. Dr Fink is in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Dr Janet Brunstorm is in St Louis, MO. I went to my regular doctor and took research info and got the medicine. It is imperative to get a small dose. Trust me. I went to a dystonia "specialist" in another statelast Monday that did not have a clue what to do. Finding the right doctor and does is a must. I cannot say that enough. E-mail me weltonmarycate@bellsouth.net and I will get the information to Retta for you. Also www.drdcentral.com is a great resource. They are Retta's friends too. I had DRD since infancy and misdiagnosed with CP. I started the medicine 2 years ago at 38 years old and had a transformation in 5 minutes. No more migraines or bloodsugar dropping and another dozen or more improvements which I can e-mail you about. Before the medicine, I kept getting worse and did not know why because CP was not progressive. Now I know what was wrong. The pndassoc.org also has awesome information and is a very helpful resource. I thank God for Retta helping all of us. I look forward to hearing from you.

Hello-

The condition is called DRD which stands for Dopa-Responsive Dystonia. It is a hereditery progressive disorder. It mimics Cerebral Palsy. Sometimes people call it Segawa's Dystonia after Dr. Segawa that discovered it. The medicine the twins take is Sinemet and I take it also. It is given for Parkinson's and helps DRD. The Sinemet is a combination drug with 2 components Carbidopa/Levo --the carbidopa carries the levodopa to the brain. You can read about it. It comes in 10/100 mg which is 10 mg Carbidopa and 100mg Levo or a 25/100 mg pill. Many take 1/4 of a pill 3 x a day. You can go to drdcentral.com and go to the new messageboard and you can look up the dosages other people take. If you will be getting it for a small child you will need to go to a compounding pharmacy. Let me know if I can help you with more info.

Hotwheels7:

Could you please describe the symptoms you had in infancy of this condition. My son's girlfriend has a son (from another man) who is developmentally delayed in many ways and only local Drs have seen him in our very small rural town since his birth when he was at MCV in Richmond, VA. He's a year old this month and still has no control over his head and neck, doesn't seem to focus well with his eyes, keeps his fists clinched all the time and arches his back much of the time. Please give me your opinion, I just saw the show on the Berry twins last night and missed the first few mins.
