I find it hard to believe I went from being a well human being to a very sick one in less than 6 months. I fell out of bed and couldn't walk. The doctors think I now have a muscle disease POLYMYOSITIS which in turn caused PULMONARY FIBROSIS. I have had reactions to many meds including steroids which make my breathing worse instead of better. I am currently on Cytoxan and Decadron for a few more months. I feeel the Cytoxan has hit it's level of help in my body and now causes me great pain when I take it. I also recently have all myofascial tissue inflammation as well and loss of range of motion. I have an extra cervical rib and have problem with my left shoulder. The doctors don't seem to believe me or listen when I say something is missing-or they are missing something. I can breathe better when the left shoulder is manipilated but the doctor says no way. It's all in my head. SO now I am on Percocet for pain (that the Cytoxan is causing), remain on oxygen 24/7 at 4 lpm, and still have left shoulder problems. The doctors cannot think of anything elst to help me. I had to fight for physical therapy also. Any suggestions? What type of doctor do you go to for tissue inflammation if it's not part of the muscle disease?

hi, you need to see a Rheumatologist. you should be taking prednisone along with an immune system depressant. Were you taking any cholesterol lowering drug(s) prior to becoming ill?

If you have been taking Lipitor, you may be one of many people who have had severe problems due to it. It can cause Muscle pain and weakness (Rhabdomyolysis) and also heart problems. Below is an article out on the internet you may be interesed in reading. It has a lot of good information about Statin Drugs which Lipitor is. Link is below the title. The link you left to check out the lipitor controversy was seriously interesting. I have fibromyalgia already and am not interested in making myself worse off. My husband and Mom are on lipitor and both have had more pain. My Mom has gotten to the point where she cannot get off the chair without straining to make it. We are getting them both off it to see if their symptoms improve for about two months trial time, starting tonight.
