-are horses in the english world hot or mostly calm?
-what is gymnastics? someone said that they do that when they practice, and all i can think of is like flips and back hand springs!
-i consider myself a cowgirl, what do you consider yourself?
-could i take my western horse and go over a small jump with him? (he has never done it before from what i know)
-on those horses that pick up there feet really high...how do you teach them to do that??
-do you use your stirrups to get on your horse, cuz those things look like they could snap really easily!
k sorry i feel really stupid right now, but these questions have been bothering me for a while! i dont plan on riding english anytime soon, but i still want to know about it! it really interests me! if you could answer these, that would help a bunch! thanks! im sure i will think of more!
-are horses in the english world hot or mostly calm?
it depends. alot upon the breed. generally [i mean VERY generally] your hunter horse is going to be quieter than your jumper horse.
-what is gymnastics? someone said that they do that when they practice, and all i can think of is like flips and back hand springs!
it's like a line of jumps consisting on one strides, bounces, two strides, etc. they're in a close vesenity to each other to help with the way a horse carries himself over fences.
-i consider myself a cowgirl, what do you consider yourself?
Hunter Princess. that's the title we earn. heck yessssss.
-could i take my western horse and go over a small jump with him? (he has never done it before from what i know)
You could, it could turn ugly. Don't do it in a western saddle.
-on those horses that pick up there feet really high...how do you teach them to do that??
Like saddle seat horses? Most of them are gaited [morgans, saddlebreds, walkers, etc.] so it's part of their breeding, but to exagerate it weighted shoes are soemtiems added.
-do you use your stirrups to get on your horse, cuz those things look like they could snap really easily!
hah, of course. they're made out of steel, they're NOT going to snap.
-are horses in the english world hot or mostly calm? jumpers i would say are like barrel racers only going over jumps they are very fast and sharp turns and this is all bout time and hunter are calm and easy going
-what is gymnastics? someone said that they do that when they practice, and all i can think of is like flips and back hand springs! a stride is one canter step and gymnastin is like a series of jumps that is one after another
-i consider myself a cowgirl, what do you consider yourself? im a hunter jumper and i do eq hunter is based on horse and how it moves jumper is speed and eq is based on the riders position
-could i take my western horse and go over a small jump with him? (he has never done it before from what i know) of course you can it just might take a little training
-on those horses that pick up there feet really high...how do you teach them to do that?? they are bred for it
-do you use your stirrups to get on your horse, cuz those things look like they could snap really easily! they dont brake they may strech after a while but then you get new ones =]
-are horses in the english world hot or mostly calm? Theyre like any other horses, though there are both the "hot bloods" (i.e. thoroughbreds and arabs which are traditionally a bit hotter and sensitive) and the "warmbloods" (A cross between the hotbloods and drafts, built like rocks, gorgeous, generally the ones that you see in the dressage and showjumping arenas at the olympics and such. Common breeds include the Dutch Warmblood, Hanoverian, Selle Francais)
-what is gymnastics? someone said that they do that when they practice, and all i can think of is like flips and back hand springs! Gymnastics are excersizes designed to develop horse and rider skills. They include cavalletti, jumping excerzises generally set in a line at different heights or distances.
-i consider myself a cowgirl, what do you consider yourself? 100% Showgirl.
-could i take my western horse and go over a small jump with him? (he has never done it before from what i know) Sure, all horses have a natural instinct to jump just like they can swim.
-on those horses that pick up there feet really high...how do you teach them to do that?? Well, alot of them have a natural ability to do that. But there are excersizes designed to assist horses in really using themselves over fences.
-do you use your stirrups to get on your horse, cuz those things look like they could snap really easily! Theyre 100% iron. what do you think keeps up on the horses backs over the 6 ft high 5 1/2 ft wide jumps?
would you say your english horse would be more or less hot than my barrel horse? based on disciplines alone.
I would say that hunters would be quieter going than a barrel horse, just because hunters try to go for a slow, smooth look while barrel horses go for speed and accuracy, since its timed. A lot like a jumper. It just all depends on what you train your horse to do.
oh, and about the stirrup question- The stirrup leathers are actually really strong, as long as you take care of it by oiling and such. If the leathers were to become dry or brittle, then yes, they could snap.
