hey guys, I was just wondering which kind of stable door was better to have in a stable.
I've never used a sliding door because i've always been exposed to swinging doors. Can any of you give me an answer as to which one is more practical and why?

do you mean stable stable door? or stall door? lol

sorry about that. Where I come from each box is called a stable. I meant stall doors

i love sliding doors.. i think its eaiser and keeps the aisle free at all times which is always convenent

I agree I like the sliding doors much better. My stable has swing doors and I can't stand it. Some hinges stick and the doors swing closed by the wind, when you need them to be open. lol.

The only real problem I have with sliding doors is that sometimes the shavings or hay gets stuck in the creases to it gets harder to open/close, but you can just shove those aside with your foot so it's not too big a deal

at my barn the sliding door tracks are on the top and the door hangs about a 1/2 i off the ground.. nothing gets stuck...even beter lol

ummm i'd have to agree with sliding although they don't seem as sturdy... one time a horse at my barn barged thru a sliding door and ran out into the parking lot wearing the door as a necklace!! he didn't get hurt though :]
