I was watching the HP DVD and it was the last episode when 007 "refused" to jump. did anyone else notice that it looked like nikkos hand jerked reallly hard to the left, it looked like 007 would have gone over it but he took his hand and yanked hard left. IT WAS TOTALY HIS FAULT!!

^? really? i know lindsay like but just a little, and i think LV was her only eq show horse, she has another show horse i think goose her jumper or something, but they wouldnt MAKE nikko look like he did that, he did it. AP did change a few things but they didnt change that, i know ppl who went to the medal finals to watch and said that happened. i rly think it was him, and thats wat puzzles me bout him. it was a beautiful round until that, and HE threw it all away. but hey, thats just my opinon

i dont think he purposely did it, but i dont think he was paying much attention when it happend and he was caught off gaurd. If he really tried, he could have gotten him over it.

its not the first time ive seen him make a big mistake in the eq. When i watched the equitation finals at WIHS, he was riding 007 and completley blew a lead (the horse swapped the front, cantered crossed up around the turn, and then swaped back to the wrong lead). I mean, at that level, mistakes like that should be unheard of.

I think that's a pretty unfair statement. Kids who compete in the big eq are not machines, nor are they professionals. Any mistake can be made on any day, no matter who you are or what you're showing in. Roll Eyes

yes your right, but let me put it another way. I watched him at WIHS closely and saw no immediate attempt to do the right thing. Yeah, mistakes can happen but if your at that level and putting that much work to do well, you should always be 100% focused to handle your horse in case something unexpected happens. Its part of what you learn in eq

i didnt mean it like that i just meant that they prolly had all different camera angle and could have used one that made it look that way but i agree that stuff should not be in the finals i understand its unpredictable but that was big mistake

ya but 007 wasnt even looking at the fence, he didnt have that expression horses get before they stop, run out, or spook...think about it.

I'm not saying that all riders at that level are like this, but Nikko probably expected the horse to fix it without his help. It seems like he gets to ride a ton of really nice horses that don't often have problems with leads, so he probably didn't expect the horse to do anything like that. It's not an excuse for not correcting (or even attempting to correct) an issue like that, but he probably just wasn't used to having to fix something with an eq horse.

^mmhmm. unless it was a young horse, which i dont think it would be at that level. most eq horse do everything like that *snaps finger* cause they almost have to be auto at that level.

i was watching HP today and where 007 didnt jump it looked like to me that if nikko didnt pull him left he would of crashed through it because 007 wasnt goona jump so nikko pulled him left insted of crashing right through it

if Nikko is guilty of anything it is because he stopped riding to that fence. 007 is not an autopilot horse and if someone stops riding to the fence, he horse isn't gonna do it.

I know I'm bringing this back up again, but I watched the episode again yesterday...

It looked like 007 started losing momentum before the fence, so if he pulled 007 away from the fence to avoid crashing into it (as someone else suggested), it could have been corrected by applying more pressure with the leg after he landed from the last fence.

I'm not sure of exactly what happened, but I am pretty sure that it was not 007's fault.
