Okay, so i just started jumping about a foot, maybe a bit more. and i was just wondering, about how far away from the jump should i get into two point.
^ Actually, a lot of trainers have beginners get into two point a stride or two before the fences (or about 10 ft or so away if trotting) to help them get a feel for the way it feels to jump without the risk of being left behind and punishing the horse's back.
Sparkie- It is best to direct any questions like that to your trainer -he/she will tell you how they would like you to do it. Never be afraid to ask questions.
for beginers as soon as you are straight and lined up to the jump you sould get in 2-point and grab mane and stay in 2-piont for a couple strides after the jump too.
when i first started riding at a show barn i was told to get up around the turn just so i was ready. i started when i was 5 at a really bad place and i was jumping 2 foot by the time i was 5 and a half. it was crazy so my parents moved me...off topic...so anywho, thats how i learned but alot of ppl learn different. now i let the jump come to me.
