Hey mythbusters, love the show. wondering if you could take a look at this, i dont think its possible but could be cool. i understand for this to be possible it would have to be under extreme presure. i dont think this box could handle it. im not sure if the myth would be,"is this possible, chemically speaking" or, "can you have glass, or plexiglass, strong enough to support pressure to stop ice from melting. awesome! would be cool to see this on episode

Compressing ice wouldn't protect it from melting, as water expands when it freezes. It would end up plain liquid water.
And the video is pretty much a trick.

Higher pressure raises the melting point of water, but not that high. For an object to glow a dull orange, it needs to get to several hundred degrees Fahrenheit (look up Black Body Radiation, which applies equally to everything, including ice).

It is probably a piece of metal frozen inside the cube of ice. The current in the coil heats the metal to red hot. The ice is melting from the inside out, but it takes an awful lot of heat before you will melt the whole block.
