I believe it is someone off-camera calling the phone.

One good reason why an Ipod Nano cannot be used as a phone... THERE'S NO SLOT FOR THE SIMCARD, or an other way to put it in... And by the way, what would you use to punch in the phonenumber without a keyboard of some kind (Either a physical one which you find on most cellphones and phones, or a virtual one which you have on the Iphone and other phones with a touchsensitive screen)? These two simple facts should rule out the possibility of using an Ipod Nano as a phone.. Now, the Ipod Touch however, can be used as a phone with a dongle that gives it the possibility to use a microphone (and downloading voIP or similar ip-phoning software)
