Can anyone explain or send me to a web site explaining why the season needs to be during the winter and most dangereous time to fish?

By the way, the show is just awesome. My wife is even "hooked" on it now

it has to do with tho molting season, mating season. in the winter is when their shells are hardened up after molting.also they are the most full of meat.

It is also the time that the crab start to congregate in large numbers and start their yearly migration.
