As my name would suggest, I was in the Air Force, working on B-1Bombers (Yes that says lady...I'm a girl!)The flightline (the long cement taxiway/runway)underwent some much needed repairs. Back in the day, we used to have b-52's here during the cold war (and no I am not that old!). In the cement are these large metal rings used for grounding aircraft with a pit around them. There are hundreds of these pits with rings for the miles of flightline that there are here on ellsworth AFB. I was given the arduous task of taking a shopvac up and down the ENTIRE flightline to vaccum out each pit, so that the loose gravel from repairing said pits would not get sucked into an aircraft engine thus causing extensive damage. Talk about dirty. 100+ degrees walking mile after mile, with a stupid shopvac. Demeaning, sweaty, and oh yeah you betcha....DIRTY!!
