It Takes bunches of people and a lot of dirty jobs to run a ski resort. I Work as a Ski Patroller(Medical Response Person) at Shawnee Peak ski Resort in Bridgton Maine. We're a small Family mountain and we all work together. From patrollers Helping hurt persons, keeping the trails safe, hauling hay, cutting down branches, Evacuating lifes, among other things all while sweating your but off under 5 layers of clothes in 10 degree weather give or take 20 degrees,to Snowcat Machanics, Lift matenience, and Snowmakers. A snowmaker is by far the worst job. The job is done at night when the temp is below 32degrees AT LEAST. These guys Hike the mountain cary snowguns and drags hoses up steep slopes. Trying to stay warm is impossible when your working with hoses containing water from a frozen lake. It gets hard to funtion when your clothes are frozen, hand are greasy,You can't hear from the noisey snowguns, the air stings your throat, your Eyebrows dawn icicles and you can't feel your toes. But in the morning the mountian calls out the skiers and boarders with Brand new freshly groomed trails, snow dusted trees and coffee in the lodge for the snowmakers before they head home to sleep and warm up just in time to get back to work. So Spend a dirty day at Shawnee Peak, We'd Show you a Wicked Good Dirty Time if you can take the cold!
