Just wanted to share this story with you. Hope it makes it to you. Just wanted to let you know that you've touched even the tiniest lives. Back in October, my 5 year old suffered a major brain bleed after falling over the rail in our house from the 3rd floor to the first. He landed head first on a Pergo floor that sits on a cement slab. To make a very long story very short, when he woke up from emergency Neuorsurgery in the PICU after hours of surgery and recovery, he motioned for the TV. Not knowing what the cognitive effect would be from this fall, we anxiously awaited he next move, hoping it would be a word...and it was. When asked what he wanted, he replied "Mike Rowe." I doubt anyone was ever happier to hear your name! Thanks, from the bottom of our hearts, for making such a lasting impression on our little guy, and on us. Patrick has had a long road in his recovery, but stills loves to watch your show. It has been one of the staples for us in this difficult time.
I'm usually in the Mud-Room, but your story was brought forward by Laurann for us to read.
Reading your Patrick's fall from the stair on his head, left a thump on my heart and fear over came me, to read what the final outcome was. One can't help praising God through the works of the doctors, when our little ones make recovery and without serious impediment on their cognitive or physical abilities. I know the anxiety and despair parents go through in such tough time. I experienced this when my 5 yrs old then, was at T.O. Sick Kids ICU and was sedated for 7 days!
It is heartening to hear that Patrick recovered well and it makes one laugh with joy to learn that on waking, the first thing your little fellow would want is to watch "Mike Rowe!" and he watched a lot of him.
Very sweet indeed and I wish Patrick and you the very best.
