I worked for a year in a silk screening company. I learned to do almost every job there was as I worked the night crew and there were just a few of us. The worst part was cleaning the used screens. We had to scrape off all salvagable ink back into the cans. Then we needed to scrub the screens with acetate until they were completely cleane so they could be used again for another project. Some of the inks we used were so toxic we had to wear gas masks to filter the toxins, the acetate and other thinners were noxious and I never had a single day of being ink free on my body or clothing no matter how careful I was. Shortly after that job ended I wound up with adult onset asthma and I am positive it came from the inhalation of all the inks and solvents. The other dirtiest job I had was working in a commercial linen service. Most of the time I did the clean work of drying, folding and packaging the product. But at times when extra help was needed ( a lot!) I would have to sort out the dirty linens from the local hospital. I am talking about surgical sheets. pads, all those little thick green or blue cloths you see on those surgery shows. They were covered with human feces, blood, and God knows what else. I was there for 4 years and if it had not been for the fact I was a single working mom I would have quit long before. it was hot, stinky and gross. Especially some of the table lines collected from restaurants that would bag the stuff and toss it in the corner for days and by the time we got it back there were maggots in it. Ewwww guess that job was worse than silk screen printing.
