Part of my job as a laborer on a pipeline was seting railroad ties to hold 2-3 ton sections on piping for a natural gas line. My first day on the job I found myself in waist-deep mud reaching in to set the skids (ties) by hand. Bending down caused my chest to go under the mud as well. I've never been dirtier before or after that in my life. But, it paid the bills!
