Hello all... Just wanted to let everyone know out there that yes you can have your wild game processed at the place where I work..lol... I work at Savage Deer Processing in the small town of Hooks, Texas. We process up to 1400 deer a year.. not to mention the wild hogs, elk, buffalo, caribou, water buffalo, and other wild game that comes through our door....We get them from as close at righta cross the road.. to having them brought in from Canada, Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Colorado, Kentucky..etc..I guess you are wondering what makes my job a "Dirty Job"?? It's the fact that we take in the wild game fresh from the hunters.. We not only process the wild game, where it ends up in nice little white packages, we also skin, gut, and prepare some for the taxidermist...we receive the carcasses in many different forms...from straight out of the woods, still warm, to ice chests...and a few that are comepletely frozen, wholly intact..(yes that means the guts still in them..LOL).. and the other aspect of my job.. is to get rid of the bones, hides guts, etc...when we have lovingly named.. going on a gut run...we haul off about 1000 lbs per trip...so.. just a few words on why my job is a "Dirty Job"...and maybe Mike would like to come down and help out on opening weekend!!! LOL.. We sure could use the help!!! Wende Jo
