Ok I think I can officially get this award, no not on job I actually got paid for but instead on a job I experienced at least 2 possibly 3 times I can remember as a child. As a child we lived in an old neighborhood with very old sewage systems-ok you got the details of the background. Anyhow, as I said before I know I experienced this at least 2 times if not more times. My dad was extremely thrifty and would try anything to avoid the cost of a repairman coming to our home, even if he had no idea what he was doing. Well occasionally, at least once every couple years we would get huge build up of grease and other strange things from the basement to the kitchen sink (approximately 10 feet or less in pipe distance). This build up would be so bad we would have to do our kitchen dishes in the bathroom until anyone broke down and volunteered to help Dad out with his latest experiement. During this experiment Dad would rent a snake (not uncommon) but then open up the main valve between the basement and the street to find out where the clog was. Ok, if you have never opened up a sewage valve think of the smell of sulfer so bad it literally clears out your sinuses without any need for antibiotics, along with the smell comes out the foulest, black sludge in gallons. This had to boarder on child abuse, don't you think? But I remember doing this at least 2 times after this, the 4 of us moved out and created a plumber fund for Dad. By the way, I have for the past 9 years suffered from chronic sinusitis, maybe I'll visit that old home once again and get my sinuses cleared out again....or not.
oh man...i dont think thats the absolute worst job, but u were a kid! and u did it multiple times! lol i wouldnt be suprised if that WAS a form of shild abuse
I did something like that as a child. After finding the clog, we also had to dig a new drainfield. That included tearing up the sod, digging the field, then filling it in with rocks, and covering it all back up. I think I was 10. On the plus side, I must've been then toughest 10 yr old in my school.
