During college, one of my summertime jobs was cleaning carpets in the dormitories. Lots of steam, all the crap that was ground into the carpets during the previous year, no air-conditioning, lots of noise & vibration, & hauling 50-lb buckets of water up & down the halls. And when the machines broke down & had to be repaired, getting drafted to clean the dorm rooms (the worst was finding a cache of USED edible undies!), all for about $6 an hour. I've done other nasty stuff (cleaning my basement after it flooded 2 yrs ago, or turning a compost pile that hadn't been aerated properly- very slimy & smelly), but they weren't for a whole 3 months.
